Peppers was a free agent looking to get out of Carolina because he saw what was coming. Marshall is under contract and what mo is saying is that Miami would have to eat the signing bonus they paid him and roll it up into one year as opposed to spreading it out. That's a cap nightmare. Plus they gave up two seconds for him so I don't think they'd be ready to unload him for just a 4th round pick.
Beyond that the guy is trouble incorporated. He was trouble here, he's been trouble in Miami and if we traded for him he'd be trouble here. He's a lot like that beautiful chick you want to date whose hotter than hell and screws like a mink but takes money from your wallet while your sleeping then steals your car and totals it. Marshall is just another accident waiting to happen. Border Line Personality Disorders don't care where you live or where you play. They go wherever you do and I'd just as soon his stayed a thousand miles away from Chicago.

How about they fire Jerry Angelo and draft some depth at the WR position and get rid of RW and Hurd. That's what the Packers did and hey look at that.. lol.

Im saying use common sense. Miami used two second round picks on the guy and gave him a 50 mil deal. They arent eating that money which will be a cap killer. It has nothing to do with ja just has to do with reality

Hurd was signed for his ST talents far more than his talent as a WR gamma. He's one of the reasons our coverage teams are ranked as high as they are. He and Corey Graham are two of the best "Gunners" in the NFL. The fact that he can go out and play some at WR and not embarass himself is just a toss in.

He's still listed as a WR on the depth chart. I'm all out for getting a big target for Jay in free agency but you need to draft like the Packers. Every TE, RB, WR is a target for Rodgers to throw to. I doubt he ever throws the ball away.

If we only had a GM like Jim Finks around again, we would once again have a franchise built on a solid foundation of young talent. Ted Thompson might be shrewdest talent adjudicator outside of Bill Belichick, and we are seeing potentially the rise of the Green Bay Packers as a major power again in the NFC and, for that matter, the league. We are so close and yet so far from seriously contending; it's sickening to think that Jerry Angelo threw away ample opportunities to build this team this past off season in favor of the old fashioned Michael McCaskey trick of purchasing cheap talent who are either over the hill, worthless, or are poor values for the money they are paying. The Packers have a city of taxpayers to answer to. I look forward to the day when Virginia McCaskey is no longer in the picture so that someone who is willing to invest time and money into building a winning franchise from the bottom up will come in and take over.

He's listed as a WR because that's his playing position just like Corey Graham is listed as a CB. There are no depth charts for ST guys except the return men and the long snapper. Everybody plays someplace.
I was hoping they'd begin to use Hurd more in the offense. He's got some size and he's an excellent blocker but RWill has started to play better and that's costing Hurd an opportunity to see more snaps on offense. The only area of receiver where we differ much from the Packers is at TE. Martz doesn't use TE's much as receivers whereas Finley is a big go to guy for Rodgers. Conversely they don't use their RB's as much as we do Forte.
Just different offensive systems employing different tools. But I do agree with you that the Packers have drafted far better for their offensive needs than we have for ours. That's not exactly a shock though. The Packers have always been a more offensive oriented team than the Bears so that's what they emphasize when drafting whereas with the Bears the defense has always dominated. It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

Time for the Bears to change game plans. You can be an offensive giant and have a great defense. Bears need to draft better. Which won't happen in my time haha. To beat the Packers in this division you need a great scoring offense and a great defense. Simple as that.

There are guys out there who are every bit as good at building a team as Jim Finks was Dags. They just need to hire one is all. I don't look at the McCaskey's a being cheap but they can't afford to overpay players like Bud Adams did with Chris Johnson. For him the Titans are just a rich oil mans hobby. A good GM needs to find value in the players market place and Angelo is very hit and miss in that regard. For every Okoye he picks up for peanuts there's two that he woefully over pays like Taylor and Manu and I still think those two mistakes is why Phillips has a tighter hold on the purse this year.
Any good football man who comes in is gonna want complete control of football operations and the purse strings need to be open if he's gonna build consistent winners. The team can't afford to keep overlooking great offensive talent just because of the price tag. Look at the benefit the defense has gotten from signing Peppers. When we have spent money on offense like we did with Cutler Angelo reneged on any promise he may have made to put better talent around him. He expects far too much from Cutler alone because he doesn't understand offenses or how to build one, that's obvious.
There's no doubt in my mind that we need new blood in the front office and not someone from within the organization. We need a very good personnel guy to match up with Cliff Stein and Ted Phillips who are both "bean counters" and less likely to spend where it's needed withour proven results. Jerry Angelo's proven results are at best very mediocre.
