All right, cut the ***
There were a few plays in which the RB got stuffed at the line, and a few Cutler had to avoid getting hit, but the o-line is consistently playing very well. The weakness with this offense is that Cutler (besides Bennett) has no one to throw to. Teams are starting to get wise to the screen passes to the RB, and although Roy Williams may turn out to be a decent WR, we have a dearth at this position, much more than at any spot on the line. We should still draft a lineman next year (preferably a guard, but a tackle would do), but WR is a much more important position.
P.S. Anyone *****ing about Forte's fumbles needs to save it. Without him, we WOULD NOT be 5-3, but closer to 2-6

They are playing better, yes. But they still are our weakness.

What, you mean we shouldn't complain about giving up two scores off those fumbles? I'll cut him some slack. He never puts the ball on the ground and tonight he was just jinxed. He as trying to put the ball away on the first one and it was almost an incompletion. The second one came after he vaulted a tackler so he wasn't protecting like he should have. He made some nice runs to keep us rolling and didn't let is get into his head so it's over. We won despite spotting them 14 points.
And yeah, that is without question the best the OLine has played all year. Louis and Spencer just kicked ass on those outside runs to the right and Louis manhandled Babin most of the night. That kid plays with a nasty attitude.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

But, the point is, look at how much time Cutler's getting to throw the ball, and what happens? drop drop drop Bennett drop

Not much time at all...most of those throws were him under pressure, throwing off his back foot, or short tosses. So im not sure where all this "time" is that you speak of, but yes...the OL has improved enough to the point where he isnt getting sacked and put on the turf every other drop.

I disagree with you, Jimmors. Cutler had good pockets of protection on many plays and simply panicked. He has gotten so used to the offensive line buckling under pressure that he just simply throws off his back foot and doesn't get enough juice on his passes. Do we have an offensive line on par with the New England Patriots? Hell no. But we still have been playing lights out football on the offensive line over the recent weeks.
That being said, we need to start Earl Bennett and utilize him in much the same way as Wes Welker is. He could potentially be a 1,000 yard receiver if used that way.

I wouldn't go as far as to say " most of the throws...." not sure what you were watching, but I saw some pretty good pockets.

I'm just glad that there are finally some pockets. The real litmus test will be redemption vs. the Lions D-line.

The OL played well tonight...dominant at times in run-blocking, solid throughout. Our sum is greater than our parts in regards to the OL. Forte's ability to cut/redirect and Cutler's ability to freestyle mask alot of our OL's deficiencies, but it works.
I've long thought (and said) that Bennett was our best WR...tonight he showed what we've been missing.
But we're 5-3 and seem to be finding our groove...
