So do I swami mo. Now can you pick the winning powerball number for me while you're at it.
You've got a good point. The right side of the line is working like a well oiled machine right now so why screw with it. Both Louis and Spencer are young enough to cover that side for some years. Let Webb and Carimi compete for LT and when Carimi wins the battle (haha) Webb can become the swing OT. Then somebody needs to pack OMG trunk for him and drive him to O'Hare. Maybe Arizona will pick him up.

I like both your trains of thought, motown and soul. I've been asking everyone about the possibility of Carimi taking over at his traditional spot of LT. If we did that and he performs as admirably as he had in the first two games we played this year, I think suddenly you have a pretty good offensive line.

Tice has got some tough decisions to make once Carimi is 100% ready to play. He's always said that Carimi could be a good LT but he thinks he can be a great RT. So does he go against his better judgement and move him or does he let him relax a little longer and keep him in reserve as an injury replacment? Or does he give Louis some work at LT in practice to see what he can do when he's lined up against Peppers. All of a sudden we go from being desperately thin at tackle to actually having some good young depth.

I really would welcome Carimi over Webb, but this seems about as right as JA gets fired

Not once Carimi is back. Then you've got three OT's you can play before OMG. There's Webb, Louis and Carimi. Even if Louis goes back to OG and Carmi back to RT if either he or Webb go down they'll put Louis back at OT long before they'll ever let OMG start. He's history once this season is over.

And it isn't gonna happen this week anyway. Carmi is still rehabbing for another week. With Louis playing so well they can afford not to rush him back and risk another injury. This guy is a cornerstone in the line so it's better if they don't rush it.
Carimi out for Lions game
Bears will continue cautious approach on rehabbing tackle

Rookie Gabe Carimi is expected to miss his seventh consecutive game Sunday as he continues to recover from a knee injury, a league source told the Tribune.
The rookie right tackle returned to practice last week and had full participation Thursday after suffering a right knee subluxation in Week 2 in New Orleans. But Carimi was held out Friday and Saturday because the knee didn't respond well, and he didn't dress for Monday night's game in Philadelphia.
The Bears continue to take a cautious approach with Carimi, although placing him on injured reserve doesn't appear to be an option right now. The strong play of converted guard Lance Louis at right tackle has given the Bears even more reason not to rush Carimi back into action.
The offensive line didn't allow quarterback Jay Cutler to be sacked in the 30-24 win victory over the Eagles and continues to improve every week.

I don't think there's any chance that Tice will reshuffle the deck with this offensive line once Carimi is healthy. I doubt very seriously that Louis will ever see another down at RG or that Carimi will ever go back to RT. Instead, I see Webb losing his starting spot at LT and Carimi taking over. I think the writing is on the wall for Webb, though his play has improved immensely in recent weeks. Webb is the perfect play to have for depth. OMG should be history, but I still stand by my assertion that he's one heartbeat away from reclaiming his position at either LT or RT. Right at this moment, he's considered depth material, no matter how we hate it, and until the season is over, we really don't have anybody else at any position on the line other than OMG who we can afford to spare. The fact is this: until Carimi takes the LT position and Webb falls down on the depth chart, for the time being, OMG is no lower than #2 on the depth chart because of the stellar play of the current line and because either Carimi or Webb one will still be ahead of him.
This is taking into consideration right now that Carimi is still rehabbing that knee. Right now, OMG is their only backup plan, which is scary.
I think the future of Carimi goes one of two ways. The first is Webb being demoted and as he appears to make incremental strides of improvement that won't happen barring injury. The next is the million dollar question: does Tice think Louis is still a better OG than OT?
Tice put the line together and had faith in it and it has responded. Normally Carimi probably would not lose his job to injury but with the addition of Spencer's development he will have to wait for next year. I can't see a #1 pick sitting on the bench so Spencer is the backup next season and Louis is a OG. Which if he can develop further would not be such a bad thing as 2 fast, athletic OG's like Williams and Louis pulling and trapping.
Who would have thought that having all this flexibility on the line would be such a "problem" lol.
