Tice put the line together and had faith in it and it has responded. Normally Carimi probably would not lose his job to injury but with the addition of Spencer's development he will have to wait for next year. I can't see a #1 pick sitting on the bench so Spencer is the backup next season and Louis is a OG. Which if he can develop further would not be such a bad thing as 2 fast, athletic OG's like Williams and Louis pulling and trapping.
Who would have thought that having all this flexibility on the line would be such a "problem" lol.
I don't know shorty. I just can't see Tice going away from what is working. I think that the first scenario, dropping Webb down in the depth chart, is going to be the way because Carimi is far more talented and polished at blocking than is Webb. It's nothing personal against Webb, who has been making significant strides over the recent weeks, but I think that Carimi should take his rightful place as the protector of Cutler's right side. I'll be like you and will be interested in seeing what Tice does though. If he shuffles the deck and the line doesn't respond well, he's going to look like shit. He is going to want to maintain as much group chemistry as is humanly possible, and you can't do that by keep swaping people in an out and changing their positions. Webb, to me, is the most likely one to go.

Like you Dags I'd like to see Carimi at LT but as Webb is Tice's pet project he's going to be hesitant to do that. You know if Louis can go to T maybe Carimi can go to G. How crazy would that be? Beating out Cwill would not be very hard with his skill set.

There again, Chris Williams is a former 1st Round pick from back in 2008. Are you going to pay him his huge salary to just sit by and watch as Carimi plays a position that doesn't even come naturally to him? I understand that Chris Williams is a converted LT, but I still think that Carimi will wind up at LT before they even consider shuffling around the Williams and Spencer.
Williams and Spencer are finally realizing their potential as linemen. Spencer was a 1st Rounder a few years ago, and really never took off in Seattle. Now that he's in Chicago, he's doing really well. I hate to see him get taken out of the lineup because Tice farted something that smells like the popcorn he ate couple with milk and then decided he wanted to mess with consistency and group chemistry. I don't know though. We'll see here in a few weeks when the time comes.

Chris Williams has been a very consistent player this year. Spencer isn't the only one leading those sweeps Forte is running. CWill is over there getting a piece of his guy too and his pass blocking has been good. It's not his guy whose getting though on the left side.
While it's true Carimi could probably play OG why would you put him into that spot when you don't have to? One reason people thought CWill was a bust is because he was a man without a position. Now that they've settled him in at LG he's playing well. Better to let things ride for another week or two, let Carimi heal completely and then give him some work in practice to get him back up to speed.
Unless there's an injury we may not see him back in the starting lineup for awhile yet.

That's exactly point, soulman. I really don't see either Chris Williams or Spencer taken out of the lineup in favor of Carimi to play OG. Carimi is a bonafide tackle, and should be groomed to take over at LT as soon as possible. That is, after all, what they drafted him to do.

I think they could use this time wisely by giving him a few snaps at LT in practice but it's hard to get a guy prepped for that while the season is going on. Look at how much better CWill is doing at OG now that he's had some experience and an offseason to get more accustomed to playing there.
I an emergency if something happens to Webb I'd probably leave Louis at RT and put Carimi in at LT but not at OG. If we lose one of the OG's we can either move Louis back inside or play EWill before we should put Carimi inside. JMO

Do any of us know what Edwin Williams is capable of? I have never really seen him in action before. I know I watched some of the preseason action, but I don't remember him from "kiss-my-ass."

Well "kiss-my-ass is only 5'11", white and goes about 200 lbs and plays SS. But that "mutha-fucka" EWill is 6'3", black as a coal mine and weighs closer to 320 lbs. He plays OG. It's really hard to confuse the two so I hope this helps.

Jeez, Edwin Williams is my height yet 37 pounds heavier than me. Is Williams any good, though? I don't really recall seeing or hearing much about him in preseason action.
