    Stephen Paea: Potential beast?

I watched as on every play Paea was on, two Eagles struggle to stop Paea from taking Vick's head off. I watched as he displayed absolutely ferocious physical-strength and speed. Very Suh-like. This guy has definite "3-technique Beast" potential. It looks like Da Bears have found a gem in this guy.

I wonder if when watching the film, Lovie is salivating when thinking of playing this guy full-time. I know we have a line rotation, but I want a guy like that in the middle that caves the middle of that O-line like he does. It looks like that safety on McNabb wasn't a fluke....

I think this guy will start to shine. Adams was shelved and Melton is on warning to improve. I hope he gets in as many reps as he can and splits time w/Okoye at 3tech.

I watched on one play when Paea took a double-team and pushed it back into Vick's face immediately after the snap, forcing him to throw it way before he wanted. We haven't had that since Tommie in his prime.

idk if they want him in the 3 tech they have been playing him at NT. Either way the guy was the right choice by far. He is filling in nicely at the NT position helping against the run and still getting a pass rush on passing downs.

this is turning out to be JA best draft since the tillman one. I have high hopes of Carimi at LT and I like what Conte is doing out there

Paea is the one getting some real push on that pocket. Okoye is tougher to block because he can penetrate pretty well but one guy can't hold up againt his bull rush. I'd let Toe play earlier in the game except for obvious passing downs but later in the game as that Oline is wearing down Paea can tear them up. I'm really not sure why he isn't getting more time but so far he's a great NT.

I think the Bears' goal for Okoye and Paea for the future is to utilize them both at the same time on the OL. It's sort of like Detroit's decision to go after Nick Fairley; they want him to compliment Ndamakong Suh on the interior of the defensive line as both are adept at pass rushing AND run stopping. With Peppers still having at least three to four more good years pending on his health, the Bears will probably go out looking for a LE either in the draft or in free agency. I hope they choose to do this via free agency because we have more pressing needs on this team, like ascertaining a big WR or two.

Dags I'm really hoping that Wootton will come on at DE or if Melton can't hack 3tech try him out there. With Okoye and Paea at 3tech that leaves Toe at NT and a faltering Adams rotating. If Adams fails, I would say go for a big, stout NT in the draft like a Phil Taylor (gotta have at least one on the team) vs yet another DE to audition.

I'm thinking Wooton and Melton seems like Wooton cannot stay healthy, and Melton just isn't that good. Peppers and Izzy on the ends, w/a mix of Toe/AA/Ok/Paea in the middle. Paea is a beast and will only get better w/real playing time. It took to long for him to get to see the field, but he's there now and it's paying dividens.

Melton actually had the best game against the run he's had in a long time. He was penetrating pretty well and dropped McCoy for a loss unassisted on at least one play. What I've noticed is that they double team him a lot and he wears down trying to pass rush against it. I think they need to rotate Okoye and Paea in more often and keep the inside guys fresh. Paea is at his best later in the game when his opposite is worn down a bit. He's got a grear bull rush and he's still quick enough to shoot gaps. I think they should stunt more often with him and one of the ends.

AA is battling that gout problem and hasn't been as effective this year so I'm thinking we may see a lot more of Paea in the second half of the season than we did the first. Either he's been playing with his pad level lower or they've decided to just say screw it and let him play his way. The guy does have incredible functional strength.

I think I would like Corey Wootton to come on strong too, but for depth's sake, we need to go out and either draft a DE late in the draft or sign another one. It's a shame that Angelo didn't go after Jason Babin this off season as I believe he was available in free agency. (Someone verify this, but I think I'm right on his former availability.) All the sports analysts are complaining by saying that we are woefully thin at DE; I personally think that we should carry four DEs instead of just three so long as there is adequate roster space for four.

What did you and soulman think about my idea of placing both Okoye and Paea on the defensive line as our primary three technique/run stoppage specialists at the same time? Detroit is seriously wanting to do the deal with Suh and Nick Fairley, and I think that we have a duo that's about on par with the two who are in the Motor City, especially when one considers that Fairley is injured.
