Carimi to undergo procedure on ailing knee
By: Larry Mayer | Last Updated: 11/11/2011 9:59 AM
Bears rookie right tackle Gabe Carimi will undergo an arthroscopic debridement procedure on his knee Friday morning.
The first-round draft pick has not played since injuring his knee in a Week 2 loss in New Orleans. Carimi practiced last Wednesday, but did not work out the rest of the week due to knee soreness.
While Carimi obviously will miss Sunday’s home game against the Lions, the Bears have not announced a timetable for his return.

I'd rather he be fully healthy than rush back. Plus, we are doing ok at this point on the Oline. //ducksheadandwaitsforlightning

I never would have predicted the line improving WITHOUT Carimi. I agree, he can take this season off and come back 100% next year.

who is in our medical staff? Shouldnt they have done this from day one?

And I had such hopes that Carimi would take over the LT position sometime this season from Webb.

It's just a debridement where they remove some dead tissue. It's not always needed after arthroscopy. This won't set him back any more than he already has been. It makes sense to give more time to recover anyway since his return isn't critical right now.
And Dags I'd be willing to bet you ten gallons of Lynchburg Lemonade that there is no way you'd see Carimi replacing Webb anyway. Not unless the only other choice would be OMG.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Sadly, I think you're right.
