The Trib Guys Reverse Field for the Lions Game................

Tribune writers pick 'em: Bears vs. Lions

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. (José M. Osorio, Chicago Tribune / November 8, 2011)

    4:03 p.m. CST, November 12, 2011

    Brad Biggs 7-1

The Bears really are on a roll and the key is their defense is in a much better place than it was when the teams met a month ago. The Lions can't run the ball.

    Bears 24, Lions 17

    Matt Bowen 6-2

Expect the Bears to play more Cover-2 versus Calvin Johnson, but it is the mix of zone pressure and man coverage that limits the Lions' offense in the win.

    Bears 21 Lions 17

    David Haugh 5-3

As well as Jay Cutler has played lately, it's hard to see that trend stopping here. The Bears learned a tough lesson in Detroit. That loss seems like it came in a different season now.

    Bears 24, Lions 20

    Madden 12 4-4

In a simulated game run by EA Sports for the Tribune, Calvin Johnson torched the Bears for six catches, 108 yards and a 30-yard TD catch. The Bears managed just one touchdown.

    Lions 23, Bears 16

    Vaughn McClure 5-3

Matt Forte is sure to atone for two fumbles in Philadelphia, and he has demolished the Lions in the past. The Bears have won five of their last six against Lions at Soldier Field.

    Bears 28, Lions 21

    Dan McNeil 7-1

Without Jahvid Best, the Lions offense is one-dimensional. If the Bears protect Jay Cutler close to as well as they did in Philadelphia, they should win.

    Bears 28, Lions 23

    Fred Mitchell 5-3

At the midway point, the Bears appear to have defined who they are and what they are capable of. The Lions are rested and much improved, but they won't remain unbeaten on the road.

    Bears 23, Lions 17

    Mike Mulligan 6-2

The Bears somehow resurrected their season after an embarrassing loss at Detroit. Now it's payback time. No nine false starts, 88-yard TD runs or big TD passes versus their Cover-2.

    Bears 23, Lions 21

    Dan Pompei 5-3

It's a different game outside and without deafening crowd noise working against the offense like it did five weeks ago at Ford Field. Look for big games from Jay Cutler and Matt Forte.

    Bears 26, Lions 23

All the Trib writers are hitting from the opposite side of the box this week all 8 predict a win in a close game. The lone holdout is the computer where Madden 2012 has us losing by a score and Megatron taking another to the houese on us.

I think I liked it better when we were an 8 point underdog and none of these guys predicted we'd beat Philly. We just seem to play batter when we have a chip on our shoulders. If we can play at the same level we did against the Eagles we should win this game.

I think we will win by 10-14 points against the Lions. The Lions will have no answer in the running game. I have changed my prediction.

Bears 31, Lions 14. Megatron and Pettigrew will both score on us, but that will be it.
