    The J'Marcus Webb Appreciation Thread

I know the haters on this board are going to attack this thread and birng up complaints from a year ago.
But this is the 4th game in a row that J'Marcus Webb has played really well and perhaps he is adding consistency to his incredible physical skills.

Vikings: Allowed 1 sack to leading sacker Jared Allen and proceeded to dominate him the entire game.

Bucs: Played a very strong game against Adrian Clayborn.

Eagles: Owned a very good pass rusher in Trent Cole and did not allow a sack or a QB hit.

Lions: Yesterday he played a very strong game and kept Kyle Vanden Bosch off of the stat sheet.

I am not saying he is a Pro Bowl player or that he is Joe Thomas, but he is our LT and in my opinion the LT of the future.

I have to admit it is real nice not seeing Jay Cutler on his back every other play. I will give him credit for playing well these last few weeks.

This year is similar to last in that it took a few games for him to find his groove. Given he switched positions again this year, I'm thinking we can expect a fairly consistent output from him from this point on, unless we change positions for him again.

The offensive line did not do very well against yesterday as it gave up two sacks in the game. Granted, Detroit has one of the very best defensive lines in the entire league. Maybe the reason we gave up two sacks was because Edwin Williams was simply not up to the task of taking over for Chris Williams. Then again, I didn't see the first half of the game, and from what I saw of the Bears offense in the second half, Cutler never got sacked.

One of those sacks came over LG but none from LT. Yeah Windy I'll give Webb some love for his play. We only threw 19 times yesterday and he's getting help most of the time but he's staring to play with more confidence. He's not getting beat inside off the double move as much and he's getting better at taking his guys around the back of the pocket. One of those sacks was on Cutler for holding he ball too long anyway so I don't charge the line with that one.

I think Ewill can hold the line. If he can't or can't run the sweeps Forte is used to and Carimi is healed up as I've postulated he COULD be a temp LG. It would be a helluva side to run on if he can do it.

I think they'd just move Louis back to RG and keep Carimi at LT. If Spencer can play RG he can probably play LG too and he can pull and trap. Makes no nevermind this week anyway. Carimi is still out.

JMW has been impressive the last several games against quality competition and playing the toughest spot on the OL. No doubt the guy has done a great job.

But....what about when Carimi returns (prob in December)?

You can't keep your 1st round pick sidelined when he's ready. Hate to mess with that right side that has played so well and, with CW out for the year, does it make any sense to not play Carimi at his natural LT position from college and try Webb at RG?

I'm just saying those are your best 5 guys available right now....Carimi-Webb-Garza-Spencer-Louis....left to right.

The only problem with that is Webb has never played OG and if it took CWill nearly a year to get used to it after playing at OT it would probably take Webb that long of longer. He's awfully tall for an OG and he already has problems with shorter DE's getting under his pads. I think at OG he'd have even more trouble.

I'd just keep him where he is and move Louis or more likely Spencer over to LG. That was you only have one guy playing out of his established position rather then two and Spencer isn't a true OG anyway so I doubt he'd struggle anymore at LG than at RG and so far it hasn't beena struggle for him at all. He looks likes he's a better OG than an OC. JMO.

If Louis moves from RT to LG, then Webb stays where he is and Carimi plays RT--understood (although Louis has been great at RT & better than he was at RG). This is probably the best option on paper.

But, if you move Spencer from RG to LG, then what does that solve? How does that get Carimi on the field as the "best 5"? You would be merely swapping guards (Spencer & EWill) and keeping the same two OTs (Webb & Louis).
