Okay, 2003, his options were limited to Grossman, Leftwich and boller. Made the right call on that one. 2004, we had our QB of the future, so no need to pick one then.
2005, we got Orton who, before his injury at Purdue, was a projected 1st rounder. Aaron Rodgers wasn't going to be picked by ANY GM our team had.
2006, we were out of the race for any major quarterback but made up for it with Brian Griese (who didn't get a chance to play until the running game and defense fell apart the following year).
2007 our best chance was Trent Edwards
2008 our chance was Joe Flacco, but we needed an OT due to the loss of John Tait.
So, what, really, did he fail at? there weren't any real late round pickups that could've taken us far (although UDFA Caleb Hanie seems to be pretty good). He could've gone with ANY of those quarterbacks, but we had other needs for the most part (having picked up Grossman in 03, Orton in 05 kinda made needing a QB until Cutler worthless).
Now, to the other parts of not protecting our QB, 2005 and 2006 our line was at the least, adequate (tho Miller fell off at the end). He tried to get Clady but had to settle for Williams. Like I've said before, he's done some "cute" moves with the Bazuin and Wolfe picks, but saying he's only gotten good defensive and special team players discounts the fact that Hester is a one of a kind, he got Forte in the 2nd round (bypassing unimpressive Rashard Mendenhall), and Olsen, until the offense negated the need for him.

Since Jerry Angelo has joined the Bears in 2001 he has plenty and I mean plenty of draft blunders. Here's a list I came up with a help of a friend.
2001 - 0/6 remaining
2002 - 0/9 remaining
2003 - 2/12 remaining (Lance Briggs and Charles Tillman)
2004 - 0/8 remaining
2005 - 0/6 remaining
2006 - 1/7 remaining (Devin Hester)
2007 - 0/9 remaining
2008 - 6/12 remaining (Chris Williams, Matt Forte, Earl Bennett, Craig Steltz, Zack Bowman, and Kellen Davis)
2009 - 4/9 remaining (Henry Melton, D.J. Moore, Johnny Knox, and Lance Louis)
2010 -4/5 remaining (Major Wright, Corey Wootton, Joshua Moore, J'Marcus Webb)
2010 Supplemental draft pick, 4th round (Harvey Unga. No longer with the team)
2011 5/5 remaining (Gabe Carimi, Stephen Paea, Chris Conte, Nathan Enderle, James Thomas)
Since Jerry Angelo became the Bears G.M. in 2001, the Bears have 22 players out of a possible 89 remaining on the roster that he drafted. Numbers could be off, but the list explains it all.

Oh, you expect there to be draft pics from 11 years ago still on the team? Yeah, and out of 422 picks since 1967, the bears only have 25 players remaining. Your stat sucks. The average tenure in the NFL is something like 3 years, so seeing how JA has quite a few still there over the last 4 years means something. Not to mention the fact that wins is what matters and were looking pretty fucking good this year, and did pretty damn good last year. Mostly with JA draft picks and his FA pickups... because, ya know, the GM isn't just about the draft. Its not the only element to building a WINNING team.

Again, Polian took forever to build his team to win the SB, and then, now, with the great Reggie Wayne and Dwight Freeney, among others, they can't win a game to save their lives. they allowed Manning to take up enough of that salary cap, to where if he's out for the season, they don't have a good enough ANYTHING to help them. That's getting complacent. JA can't afford to be complacent, and actually does try to get us great players (John Tait, Julius Peppers, Muhammad, Fred Miller, and took chances on players everyone else wrote off, like Thomas Jones and Okoye, and got something out of them). He's not doing a horrible job. Yes, he's had his blunders, and if you look around EVERYONE has had blunders, but he's still able to put on the field, competitive teams and has gotten better quality out of the last several drafts.

Urlacher is still on the team yet he was drafted in 1999.

Patrick Mannelly too.. Olin was on the team until this year as well. *shrug*

Urlacher? Ya mean, the one of a kind HOF player that you don't see very often?

After his failure to connect with a vet Olineman and vet WR whose name isn't Roy Williams I don't know how anyone could defend JA's track record as a personnel wizard. Whatever this team is today it is despite him not because of him. If DB54 were here I doubt even he could come up with a convincing arguement to the contrary.

im tired of Jerry getting a pass because he finds gems in later rounds, for every Briggs there 2-3 Mark Bradleys, Michael Haynes, Daniel Mannings, Dusty Dvoraceks
