Probably why we haven't heard much yet. If it was no big deal Lovie would have been downplaying it like he usually does with the little stuff. Bad break if this is the case. Really bad break.

Two sources confirm that Cutler will be sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks, but the Bears have no plans to place him on injured reserve.

Bears’ Jay Cutler might be lost for season with broken thumb

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler saved a touchdown, but he may have suffered a season-ending injury.
That’s the fear, according to two sources, because Cutler broke the thumb in his throwing hand in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 31-20 victory over the San Diego Chargers. Fox Sports was first to report that Cutler had injured his thumb around 8 p.m.
It’s feared Cutler suffered the break after Bears receiver Johnny Knox slipped on the turf and a pass was intercepted by cornerback Antoine Cason.
As he was sprinting down the right sideline, Cutler dove and slowed him long enough that running back Matt Forte tackled him at the Bears’ 16-yard line.Cutler, though, finished the game, even completing two passes on third down on a key drive that chewed up more than seven and a half minutes on the clock.
For the game, Cutler completed 18 of 31 passes for 286 yards with two touchdown passes. The Bears have won five consecutive games, and they’ll now head to Oakland to face the 6-4 Raiders.
Backup Caleb Hanie will get the start for the Bears.
Cutler will undergo further tests, to determine the exact nature of his injury. But there is a concern his season could be over. The Bears, though, are expected to err on the side of caution, in case Cutler can return late in season, perhaps even in the playoffs.
It was a rough day for Cutler, who also absorbed a knee to the head. While he wasn’t sacked in the game, Cutler was pressured three times, according to the game statistics, and he took a few hard blows.

EFF YOU CEE KAY!!!!!!!
Damn, just damn! Finally get the offense turned around and then this and on an f'n tackle on a pick that wouldn't even have happened if Knox had kept his feet. Cutler was pissed at him for that too. Rotten luck.
Well now we get to find out just how much of that NFCC Game was Hanie and how much ws luck. He's due for a contract extension so here's his chance to earn it. I'm certainly gonna be pulling for him CSU alum that he is.

damn, this is depressing......
but it just means everyone's gonna have to step it up a notch & we're gonna have to claw out a few that, with Jay, probably would've been easier wins.

This just can't possibly be happening. Cutler can't be out for the season.
The were rolling. Poised to do something special. No the team is hit with the one injury they can't possibly survive and hope to make a Super Bowl run with: Jay Cutler is reportedly out for the season with a broken thumb on his throwing hand. Yes, other QBs (Favre, Rothelisberger) have played with broken thumbs. If they're saying it's surgery needed, then no way Jay can play with it.
This just....sucks. I mean I actually feel physically ill.
-
Wait a sec. I just read that AFTER he broke his thumb he finished the game and even completed 2 third down passes for first downs on our last drive. If it's about pain-management, he should play. If it's about permanently screwing up his thumb, then get surgery and sit. I hope it's the former.
He didn't say anything about his thumb in the press conference...hmmm....
