Mannelly out for season with ruptured ACL

Jay Cutler wasn’t the only Bears captain to sustain a significant injury in Sunday’s win over the Chargers.
Long-snapper Patrick Mannelly will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured ACL he suffered on an extra-point attempt midway through the second quarter.
Mannelly, who joined the Bears in 1998 as a sixth-round draft pick from Duke, has played in a franchise-record 215 games, missing just three contests in 14 seasons. He sat out one game in 2001 with a sprained ankle and two contests in 2002 with a knee injury.
Fullback Tyler Clutts filled in admirably for Mannelly against the Chargers, snapping on a punt for the first time since high school. It is not known whether the Bears will sign a long-snapper or have Clutts continue in that role.

I tweeted Dez Clark to see if there was any interest in resurrecting his long snapping career.

As much as I like Dez, long-snapping definitely was not his forte. lol
