I don't disagree but from what I can see we can't lose. We're last man in the daisy chain as far as waiver priority is concerned. Every other team with a need or a possible interest is in front of us. If he clears those other teams all Angelo has to do is withdraw his claim, Orton becomes a FA, and he negotiates a salary to cover these six games as Hanie's backup with the potential for him to be back next year depending on how things work out.
You have to figure that as a FA at this point in time he'd rather be in Chicago where he's liked and respected than anywhere else after the brutalizing he's gone through out here. Demoted to a third string QB again behind Tim Tebow and Brady Fvckin' Quinn........how rude!
Elway is doing him a huge favor giving him a chance to get out and saving $$$ in the process. Could be win win for everyone.
That makes absolutely no sense that he'd be targeting the Bears to eat Orton's contract.
Read an article on it in the Denver Post. Seems Orton's agent asked for his release as soon as they found out about the severity of Cutler's injury. There's a game plan going on to get him back in Chicago and I'd be willing to bet JA and Orton's agent are trying to get some kind of deal worked out.
