I think Orton would have done fine with Chicago if we brought him back. I thought he did well with Denver yet he was screwed out of the starting position because of McDanials did when he traded for Brady Quinn and drafting Tebow.

Oh I think Orton would have been fine as well and it would have set up up in a better position for next year to have Hanie and Orton battling for that #2 spot. Of course that may happen anyway or Hanie may get an offer and leave who knows. The main thing is that I believe Orton still sees himself as having a starters ability and I think he's right. he can start and he can win but he'll never be a Super Bowl QB so if he's in Chicago he's always gonna be a #2. Hanie on the other hand seems more willing to accept that role subordinate to Cutler.

The only reason I said McCown may be a better fit is his mobility and the fact that he knows he's just a hired gun for an emergency and once this season is over he's gone.

I am glad to see Orton get the opportunity to get out of dodge but I'm betting he's not real happy with where he landed. Orton got brutalized here as badly as Grossman did in Chicago and maybe worse. He's a FA and he'll have a chance to get some looks from other teams this coming spring.
