    Injury Update, 11/24/11

Hester misses practice with shin injury

By Vaughn McClure Tribune Reporter 2:38 p.m. CST, November 24, 2011

Chicago Bears receiver/kick returner Devin Hester was added to the injury report Thursday with a shin injury and did not participate in practice.

Coach Lovie Smith didn't seem to be overly concerned about Hester's latest injury and didn't rule Hester out for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders. Hester has been limited by a sprain ankle the last few weeks.

Nickel back D.J. Moore remained sidelined with sprained left ankle, and Smith said it's not looking good for Moore to play Sunday at Oakland.

Safety Brandon Meriweather, who was limited with concussion during Wednesday's practice, participated again Thursday.

Looks like we're pretty healthy going into this game less those guy we're already missing. DJ is still out but Graham has been doing a good job of replacing him. Call me crazy but Lovie must have gotten through to Meriweather. He's been playing decently and no more penalties and fines.

I was going to say, soul, that Meriweather should have gotten that concussion during the first part of the season when he was spear tackling opposing wide receivers in the helmet-to-helmet shots.

Raiders' Ford, McFadden likely out Sunday

Oakland is still having health issues at the skill positions. Receiver Jacoby Ford will likely be out again with a foot injury and rookie Denarius Moore hasn’t practiced this week with a foot injury. Receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey did some light work Thursday after suffering a neck injury at Minnesota. Running backs Darren McFadden and Taiwan Jones aren’t practicing either and they look like they may miss Sunday’s home game against Chicago.

    Good News!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Inside the Bears

Bears expect Devin Hester to play vs. Raiders

By Mark Potash on November 25, 2011 10:15 PM| No Comments| No TrackBacks

Bears coach Lovie Smith said he expects Devin Hester to play against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday despite not practicing this week because of a sore shin. Hester is listed as probable on the Bears' injury report.
''Devin is getting better,'' coach Lovie Smith said after practice Friday at Halas Hall. ''We kept him out one more day. He should be able to go.''

Hester didn't sound quite as optimistic when we talked to him about the injury Friday. ''It started out about two weeks ago and gradually go worse than I thought it would,'' he said. ''Something I have to deal with and hope it gets better. It's real sore. Other than that, it's kind of like a nagging injury. It's real sore. Hard to push off.''

Hester said he is hopeful he will not miss Sunday's game in Oakland. ''I'm going to get as much treatment as I can and get a lot of rest and hopefully it'll be ready for the game,'' he said.

In other injury news, nickel back D.J. Moore, still recovering from an ankle injury, also missed practice Friday and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game. Corey Graham would start at nickel back in Moore's place. Graham played nickel last week against the Chargers and had an interception.

The only other active player on the Bears' injury list was safety Brandon Meriweather, who is probable with a concussion.

The Raiders will be without running back Darren McFadden (foot) and kick returner Jacoby Ford (foot), who were ruled out by coach Hue Jackson on Friday. The Raiders list six starters as questionable: defensive tackle Richard Seymour (knee), defensive end Lamarr Houston (knee), wide receivers Darrius Heyward-Bey (neck) and Denarius Moore (foot), safety Michael Huff (ankle) and cornerback Chris Johnson (hamstring/groin).

Injuries will limit Raiders against Bears

By Brad Biggs, Tribune Reporter 4:25 p.m. CST, November 25, 2011

The Chicago Bears will go to Oakland without quarterback Jay Cutler and nickel cornerback D.J. Moore will not play, but the Raiders are facing a host of injuries that will limit them on Sunday. It could be a good time to catch the AFC West leader.

Oakland (6-4) ruled running back Darren McFadden (foot), wide receiver/kickoff returner Jacoby Ford (foot) and defensive end Jarvis Moss (hamstring) out for the game. McFadden and Ford are explosive parts of the team’s offense.

The Raiders also list nine players as questionable and six of them are starters. Defensive tackle Richard Seymour was added to the report Friday with a knee injury and was limited in practice. Wide receivers Darrius Heyward-Bey (neck) and Denarius Moore (foot) are questionable. Other starters classified as questionable are defensive end Lamarr Houston (knee), safety Michael Huff (ankle) and cornerback Chris Johnson (hamstring/groin).

Oakland also lists running back Taiwan Jones (hamstring), safety Michael Mitchell (ankle) and running back Manase Tonga (knee) as questionable. Center Samon Satele (concussion) is probable and had full participation in practice Friday.
