Per his own words in his press conference.
Pins won't come out or 3-10 weeks, screws will not come out, and he said he would lose mobility in his thumb.
I don't think he will be back this year at all.

I bet he'll be back for 12/25.
Can I dislike your post benji.. sorta half dislike for the 10 weeks part? That truly makes me sad. :( Feel bad for Jay. Dude was becoming a stable QB, minimizing mistakes by telling Martz to go F himself on crazy plays that will never work... could of been a tremendous year for Jay.
He's gonna play on Feb 5th. Mark my words! ;-)
Depending on the severity I wouldn't go as far as 10 weeks. I posted an article awhile back on some of the new things medicine is doing to shorten recovery time. I would say 6 weeks with a week of rehab he might see the field.
Thats a pretty big friggin window.
Yeah....not even Cable componies give THAT big of a window.
LOL, are you a little old Jewish man Benji? Always so extreme and so doom and gloom. :lol-027:
He says the pins can come out in 3 to 10 weeks. If it's 3 or 4 he may be back by the time the playoffs role around but I doubt by the Packer game unless a miracle healing occurs which in that case we won't let the Packers know until the last minute anyhow.
He also said he lose some flexibility which I would interpret as different than a complete loss of mobility. One means it's gonna be stiff and sore then other means a loss of use or motion which to me means it'll be impossible to grip a football as opposed to maybe just painful to do it.
There's still a chance that he may play by January since that's at least five weeks off. Let's be optimistic here and even if he doesn't return Hanie will have 6 games under his belt by the time the season ends. he's not Cutler but he's no chopped liver either.
Cutler hopeful for return, concedes his season may be over
By Dan Pompei, Tribune reporter 1:34 p.m. CST, November 30, 2011
For the first time since the world learned that Jay Cutler had fractured his thumb against the San Diego Chargers on Nov. 20, the Chicago Bears quarterback answered questions for the media Wednesday.
Among Cutler's revelations during a news conference at Halas Hall:
*Cutler had three screws and two pins inserted in his bone. Cutler said the pins need to come out sometime between three and 10 weeks. That apparently could involve more surgery before he takes the field again.
“It’s a matter if they are not hindering me throwing the ball, if I’m comfortable with them, if they aren’t pinching,” Cutler said. “There are a lot of factors.”
Cutler said he expects to lose some flexibility in his thumb.
*Cutler did not suffer ligament damage, and already has begun rehab.
Cutler said he is trying to get the movement back in the thumb and get the swelling to go down. He is not yet sure when he can begin throwing.
*In addition to fracturing the thumb, Cutler hyperextended it and dislocated it.
much like Zach Zaidman said on twitter, I think that if Jay was really worried he was gonna be out for the year, he wouldnt have said it like that at the press conference. hes back week 17. barring a setback caused by diabetes.
