    What we learned KC/Chicago

Is what we already knew; Martz is a jackass, Haine is no Culter; and w/no Forte/Cutler there is no Offense. The whole Bears team seemed off today, in all phases, it was a hard watch; a bit sickening really. This game really show cased how important Cutler/Forte are; and the rest of the O players are nothing more then stop gap depth. There are no other playmakers. If we cannot muster 24-30 points against this team, we are going to get destroyed by the Denver Teblows. That D is for real, and just like today their running game will wear our D out and burn us on a few key pass plays.

Bears O: In the 4th qtr, when they finally went to 3 step drops and quick reads for Haine he looked fine; before that he was getting pressured and confused and looked awful. Once we lost Forte it was over. You just lost 90% of the O w/Cutler/Forte out. Anyone that thought this OL was magically fixed by late round projects and Tice were fooling themselves. The D has to stay honest b/c of Forte and the running game; and Cutler is smart+ has a quick release, on top of a great chemistry w/Bennett. He and Forte make that OL look a lot better then they are, along w/the Max protec packages. Had a Bell sighting and Barber looked okay, but once in the redzone w/out the threat of Cutler, KC's D lined up to shut down the run game; and they did just that. Once that was done, martz became obvious and went pass happy; the OL didn't hold up and Haine got dropped. What was said about the OL can be said about the WR's. Hester is nothing more then a part time slot guy, Knox still won't fight or go after a jump ball(that Int is as much on him as it is on Haine; that DB had a better read on the ball, and just used Knox's momentum to keep him going past where the ball was going). Roy boy had another key drop; that caused another int, and that should have been a TD. Dane seems to have taken his lessons in WR from Knox in that he doesn't fight for balls either. We might have the softest least talented wr's in the league.
**Stop calling for McNabb please, there is a reason he was cut from Wash/Minny, and traded from Phily to a div rival; he's through. Haine/McCown are probably not the answer, but McNabb is definately not; 4-5yrs ago maybe, not now.

Bears D: D stopped KC, but that 3 headed monster of a running game just wore down the Bears and eventually they started cracking. Again we see that this D, when they don't get TO's give up points. Palko being who he is, is why they didn't score more. We saw Tillman give up what should have been an Int, Urlacher instead of getting an int batted the ball down to give KC the TD, They stripped the ball from Bowe, but he was the only one that noticed and got it back. The D did enough to get the job done, but rarely gave the O good enough field position to really take advantage; not that an O w/no Cutler/Forte will take advantage of much. What happened to that pressure the DL was getting early on? This is 2 weeks in a row it has vanished after a fast start.

Bears ST: Well KC's plan worked all but once this week; kick short sub 50yrd punts right at hester and he cannot return it b/c the kick coverage is on top of him before he can do anything. Gould was off and that really did seal the deal. We again had some uncanny flags on a normally dicsiplined ST's.

Bears Coaches: Lovie; I don't know what this team did to make him so good at challenges but damn he is on fire w/them. Martz you can burn in hell...or as I call it Arizona...I defended you all last week; and you came out w/this gameplan? Tice the TE's and other key players make your OL look better then they are. It might be lack of actual talent, it might be you're a bit over rated in the eyes of Bears fans. but if Martz goes' I hope you don't take his place.

Rapid Reaction: Chiefs 10, Bears 3

CHICAGO -- Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Hanie struggled significantly in his second start as the replacement for Jay Cutler on Sunday in a 10-3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Hanie completed 11 of 24 for 133 yards, three interceptions and a passer rating of 29.8, while absorbing seven sacks in a performance that could prompt the Chicago Bears front office to finally put in a call to representatives for former Vikings quarterback Donovan McNabb.

Compounding matters for the Bears in their attempt to stay alive in the playoff race was a first-quarter knee injury to running Matt Forte. The significance of the injury wasn't immediately disclosed, but the fact the team held Forte out for the remainder of the game is concerning.

Let's look into this a little more.

What it means: Considering the Bears are fighting for their playoff lives right now, the loss could mean trouble. Chicago falls to 7-5, and it's situated within a cluster of teams with similar records. Going into the contest, the Bears held the No. 5 seed with Atlanta sitting at sixth, and Detroit and the New York Giants within striking distance.

By virtue of Atlanta's 17-10 loss at Houston on Sunday, the Bears maintain their lead over the Falcons. The schedule of games could also help the Bears. The Lions face the New Orleans Saints on the road Sunday night and the Giants host the undefeated Green Bay Packers.

    Freak play 1
: Former Bears quarterback Kyle Orton made his debut for the Chiefs, throwing only one pass on a flea-flicker attempt before leaving with a dislocated index finger on his throwing hand.

The Chiefs claimed the remainder of Orton's nearly $2.6 million salary recently, which means he was making a weekly salary of approximately $433,000. That's quite a bit of coin for only one pass.

Freak play 2: Chiefs quarterback Tyler Palko called upon a Hail Mary for his first career touchdown pass just before halftime on a play the Bears could've squashed.

On the last play of the first half, Palko launched a bomb into the end zone and Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher appeared to try to bat it down, only for his teammate -- safety Chris Conte -- to come over his back, and smack the ball right into the hands of running back Dexter McCluster for a touchdown. The score gave Kansas City a 7-3 lead at intermission.

Interestingly, the TD was the Chiefs' first since in 12 quarters, dating back to Nov. 13.

Injuries: Running back Matt Forte left in the first quarter after suffering a right knee injury on a hit from Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson. After athletic trainers took a look at Forte, he immediately went into the locker room. Minutes later, the team announced he was out for the game.

The Bears also lost safety Major Wright for the remainder of the game with a shoulder injury.

Although the extent of the injuries weren't immediately disclosed, it's safe to say the team could be reaching deep within the roster to fill a couple of spots. The club was already severely limited because of the thumb injury to starting quarterback Jay Cutler that is expected to keep him out of action for the remainder of the regular season.

What's next: The Bears face the Denver Broncos on the road on Sunday.

I wouldnt say that...Peppers and Tillman were BEASTS today, our defense did an outstanding job except for Conte's dumb knockdown and the drive that led to the KC FG. Outside of that, the D did well...did an excellent job forcing 3 and outs and their tackling was spot on (something they tend to have issues with)

I learned that Hanie looked awful except for one drive that resulted in a interception when Butterfinger Williams dropped the ball into a defenders hands like a gift.

D is the only group that showed up today, I'll give you that. But 1 turnover for a team that's goal is 3 is not a great day; and they had their chances to get those other 2 and wiffed on them; one leading to a TD. They also were again giving up big chunks of yards off the running and passing plays.

And did you notice the difference in playcalls on that drive Gamma? 3 step drops, quick reads to get the ball out of his hands fast. Less you had him think and the more he just reacted and the better he looked.

Yeah, they shouldve had a few more TOs, they had 3 INTs they dropped and a Forced Fumble or two they didnt recover.

Still...if it wasnt for that stupid Hail Mary, KC wouldve only put up 3 points on us. Id measure that as a success for the D any other game, including this one.

Unfortunately it took Martz til 4 mins left in the game to figure out what to call when Hanie is the QB. Martz is one of THE worst OC's to have when your starter is out with an injury. That moron still hasn't adjusted.

yep. i brought this up last week..Hanie does best when the plays are quick passes, or if he can scramble. Keep him in the pocket too long and he stumbles greatly.

I wonder if Martz is aware of that. Probably not.
