Report: “Persistent chatter” Jerry Angelo could retire | ProFootballTalk

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network said on Gameday Morning that there is “persistent chatter” among scouts that Bears G.M. Jerry Angelo could retire. La Canfora mentioned that the decision could hinge on the manner in which the season finishes for the Bears. It’s unclear whether that means a great ending would prompt Angelo to walk away triumphantly, or whether a bad one would cause him to disappear with his tail between his legs.

define "great". If we get to the playoffs, and Cutler needs one more week to get healthy, we're gonna get ****** up by whoever we play....

If that means Roadkill is the next GM, I'm 100% against this. Fire Roadkill, then retire JA.

I wouldn't really say this means there will be a GM from the outside being brought in…just that it’s unclear if any new GM would keep Lovie as HC…

My guess is that Ruskell is not an option he was a failure as a GM and even with Jerry's endorsement I think Lovie and Phillips will look outside.

I expect Lovie to be huge in picking a GM that he wants to work with.

All I know is that if the Bears go outside the team then they go to Pittsburgh and take Kevin Colbert's secretary.

I hope this is true and he does indeed retire so he can avoid being fired, haha. If Ruskell becomes the next GM the Bears are worse off... I'm hoping they hire someone who has been in an organization that has been winning for the past decade, because they know the winning formula.

I would define "great" as getting past the Packers and Saints and into the SB. WIth the unlucky injuries we've had this year, to pull a 2010 Packers and make it to the SB as a WC, beating the NFCN (and SB) Champs would be quite ironic. Just doing that...id be ok with JA keeping his job. Anything short of that, including one and done or missing the playoffs...then yeah, JA should retire, and someone from the outside should be brought in as GM (not Ruskell)

My Top 3 choices for the job are Bill Cowher, Bill Parcell and Baltimore's Eric DeCosta.

Ruskell is a nightmare and I hope it does not happen, but perhaps he learned from his mistakes in Seattle.

I would hope that the job is opened up and that Ruskell and the A-List guys are brought in for an equal interview process.

Lets get someone young and exciting in here to change the process.
