Abandon his ass. If someone sticks a microphone in your face asking for your opinion, say something about how wrong it is to peddle dope and walk away. Having someone's back is one thing, but when what they're doing results in kids being killed or made into junkies, you need to make as much distance between you and them as possible.
I think its typical for athletes to circle the wagons when one of their own gets charged with a serious crime. Mostly because if THEY were in that situation, they'd want their teammates to do the same for them and say positive things about them to the media (im not saying this is rigt or wrong, merely suggesting this is why they say such things to the media).
But this case is not a simple crashed Chevelle SS or Gambling bust where nobody is hurt, this is a very serious crime and one where he is NOT going to walk away with a slap on the wrist. So, in the end, it doesnt really matter what teammates say about Hurd, his actions are speaking way louder.

He was also a dealer for a lot of nfl players; they're probably hoping he leaves their names out of it.

Authorities say he was trying to set up a drug distribution network in Chicago. The complaint states that Hurd met with an ICE undercover agent at a restaurant in Chicago on Wednesday night when, law enforcement officials say, Hurd introduced himself as the person communicating with a confidential informant.Hurd stated that he was interested in purchasing 5 to 10 kilograms of cocaine, at $25,000 per kilogram, and 1,000 pounds of marijuana at $450 per pound per week for distribution in the Chicago area, according to ICE.Hurd said that "he and another co-conspirator currently distribute about four kilograms of cocaine per week in Chicago but that his supplier couldn't supply him with enough quantity," Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said.

Let's hope Jay is not involved. I'm sure he has better things to do with his girl than buying sh!t like that. Actually I really hope no other Bear is involved.
