I guess we would have to go back thru the NFL records to see :

Hey would you rather have a midget or a tall guy?

The prototypical WR ... to this day is Jerry Rice.

    6'2" 200 lbs.

Thats all you need with soft hands and the ability to get free from CB's & Safetys.

    Krony,

What does your college draft see that falls into the ranks of DAA BEARRSSE to draft,

    that sounds like that?

    Top 10 wr's, 3 are about 5-9, 4 are 6 3 or taller and 3 are 6 even.

one of the small wr's is welker, and well he has brady and that ne system; another is steve smith and we all know he plays taller then he is.

last year 3 under 6, 3 about 6 and the others in the mid 6's.

year before that only 2 under 6 foot, wellker and smith(again plays taller). Wanna know something interesting, each of those years, at least 2..if not 3 te's in the top 10 in yards. So it would appear that being at least 6 foot is a key number; unless you play in a wc led Brady system and the wr is one of the best route runners in the game; or play about 3-4 inches taller then you actually are.

You said it for me Ric ... 70% of WR's are 6 feet and over. Of course TALENT helps. Ask Roy Williamss ... tall and well ... untalented.

Size is a consideration but a WR COACH should be a bigger one. Go out get Blackmon, a wr coach worth a crap and a vet FA WR and that is a major stride towards overhauling the the corps and the culture.

If we sign a Marques Colston or Stevie Johnson or if we really need to look Robert Meachem and we draft Kendall Wright we could have a revamped WR core.

    1. Stevie Johnson, big leaping target.
    2. Kendall Wright, deep threat that can catch and run routes.
    3. Earl Bennett, 3rd down machine.

All this draft a wide receiver crap seems eerily familiar. Maybe that means I've been around too long.Draft Mike Williams!

There's no way we'll get Blackmon, he'll be a top 5 pick, with who it looks like is going to be at the bottom of the standings.

History proves receivers tough to gauge - CBS SportsLine. an article from 2001 that is interesting to look back on. WR has a very low success rate in the NFL, and among the ones that do succeed, it usually takes several years to adjust to NFL style of play.

I don't doubt Blackmon is a top 5 wr but all the draft has to do is have him fall a bit or teams get a wacky trade and he could be 10-15 which is in striking range. Hell if he's got an injury we'll pick him up for sure lol.

Knox to me has proven only one thing and that is that he will hurt you as much as he helps you.

    -Mediocre Hands
    -Poor Routes

I am also assuming he will want a bigger contract than Earl Bennett, which I will not pay him.

Give me Greg Jennings that is a professional WR and a real deep threat.
