WR Marques Colston [New Orleans] 4 years 28 million/14 guaranteed

The Bears need a #1 WR with some size and they could potentially draft one, but it is a risk and there are no free agent OTs worth anything. Colston has some injury problems, but he has been healthy for a couple of seasons and is a big time producer.

CB Terrell Thomas [New York] 4 years 22 million/10 guaranteed

The Bears CBs have bright moments and then have terrible moments and they need to become more consistent in the secondary. Thomas is coming off of an ACL early in the season so he comes at a discount and he has the size and tackling ability that the Bears need.

S Tyvon Branch [Oakland] 4 years 16 million/6 guaranteed

Brandon Merriweather has been a nightmare, Major Wright has been injured and Chris Conte has had his bad moments and a veteran needs to be added. Branch is a good zone safety that has a ton of speed and loves to hit.

LB Rocky McIntosh [Washington] 4 years 14 million/5 guaranteed

The Bears need to add youth, speed and depth to the LB core and McIntosh has been miscast in the Redskins 3-4 defense. McIntosh has the speed and coverage ability that the Bears need and will start at SLB and backup at WLB if Briggs continues his contract squabble.

QB Drew Stanton [Detroit] 2 years 3.5 million/1guaranteed

Caleb Hanie is a failure as a backup QB and the Bears need to add someone who can at least give them a shot to win in these situations. Stanton is athletic and can make plays right before he ruins it by doing the Dougy.

RB Matt Forte [5 years 45 million/21 guaranteed]

A must resign and the most dynamic playmaker that the Bears have.

TE Kellen Davis [2 years 4.5 million/2 guaranteed]

The Bears and Davis have still not realized his potential, but he is a very good run blocker and I think could be a very good receiver.

DE Israel Idoinje [2 years 6 million/ 2 guaranteed]

Idonije might not be the pass rusher that the Bears need across from Peppers he is a great run stuffer and a perfect rotational player.

CB D.J Moore [4 years 10 million/5 guaranteed]

Perfect for the defense and a true take away machine he should be resigned for the top level of what a nickel CB gets.

DT Amobi Okoye [4 years 14 million/6 guaranteed]

Okoye has proven to be a nice rotational player and has shown he can get to the QB. The Bears should try and resign him and keep him in the competition, but he is not worth breaking the bank for.

CB Corey Graham [3 years 5 million/3 guaranteed]

A valuable special teamer and has flashed a knack for the ball in limited defensive reps. The Bears should keep the special teams captain.

S Craig Steltz [2 years 2.5 million/1 guaranteed]

Steltz has been a consistent contributor and can hold up as a sport starter and a leader on special teams.

RB Khalil Bell [2 years 3 million/1 guaranteed]

Bell in my opinion has earned the right to be the primary back up, he runs hard and catches the ball well out of the backfield.

1[16] OT Barrett Jones [Alabama] 6’5” 320lbs.

The Bears OL is average and inconsistent and if the Bears want to maximize what Jay Cutler can do they need a group that is good. One of the weaknesses this year has been the inconsistent play of J’Marcus Webb, who is a high potential player that has struggled. Jones has started at RG and LT for the Crimson Tide and has been dominant at both positions. Jones is strong, technically sound and a team leader all things that the Bears would welcome. Jones versatility is a plus. If Webb comes in next season and plays really well Jones will be moved to OG and provide an upgrade there. If Webb struggles and loses the competition to Jones than Jones will play the LT position and provide an upgrade at that position.

2[48] WR Kendall Wright [Baylor] 5’10” 200lbs.

The Bears have upgraded the #1 WR position with Marques Colston, which gives them the big physical target that they need. The Bears now need a #2 WR that can consistently get deep and provide a big play threat. Wright does not have ideal size, but he has blazing speed, good hands and is physical and shifty after the catch. Wright reminds many of Steve Smith of the Panthers and he should provide an nice compliment to Colston on one side and Bennett in the slot.

3[71] DE Cam Johnson [Virginia] 6’3” 270lbs.

The Bears need get younger and add some pass rush to a DE core that is good, but aging. The lack of development from Cory Wootton has left the Bears without a player that can rotate in with Peppers and Izzy and get a pass rush. Johnson provides a player that can come in and spell either player and represent a pass rush improvement from Idonije. Johnson has the physical ability and will be coached by Rod Marinelli, who has developed some serious DL talent.

3[80] RB LaMichael James [Oregon] 5’9” 190lbs.

The Bears need to realise that this team needs to be built around Jay Cutler if they want to be successful in the future. In the theme of building around Cutler the Bears select James to add speed and a dynamic threat out of the backfield. Forte is the starter and the workhorse and Bell has earned the right to be the primary back up, but James can provide a scat back element like Darren Sproles. Use him on screens, routes out of the backfield and draw plays and add another weapon to the aresenal.

4. LB Nigel Bradham [Florida St] 6’3” 240lbs.

The Bears are facing a LB transition in the next few years and while the need is not dire in 2012 the Bears need to add young bodies to the mix. Bradham fits the mold of a Bears LB, he is fast and has a nose for the ball. He will backup and learn from Briggs and contribute immediately on special teams.

5. CB D’Anton Lynn [Penn State] 6’1” 200lbs.

The Bears should use free agency to improve the secondary, but young CBs with the size to start is important to add. Lynn has the size that he can be developed as a starter down the road. Lynn can replace Zach Bowman as the developmental CB and special teams contributor.

6. WR Jermaine Kearse [Washington] 6’2” 205lbs.

The Bears need at WR is great enough that they should add 3 new bodies to the mix. Kearse can replace Hurd as a big WR with special teams value. Kearse is a sleeper to me as he dealt with poor QB play while at Washington.

7. C Jeremiah Hatch [Kansas] 6’1” 310lbs.

The Bears take a flyer on another 7th round OLmen as Mike Tice has had success developing them into contributors. Hatch is a bigger center, which fits Tice'’ mold.

I truly believe that Kellen Davis has way more talent than we give him credit for. Davishas not had a real oppurtunity to show what he has because of this dinosaur offense that we run.

I give Davis a season in a real offense to show what he has.

I agree completely. Look at the pats who also have small receivers. They actually use their tight end in the redzone very successfully. I am not a fan of Martz at all and think he needs to hit the door.

I agree that LaMichael won't be in the mix in the third round. The latest I see him going is second round. Pretty good picks, but if we don't get the WR we need in FA, then we'll still be in the same boat.

It looks like people would prefer this option,

1[16] WR Michael Floyd [Notre Dame] 6'3" 225lbs

The Bears OL has been improved, but inconsistent and the with the addition of Collins we have competition at the LT position. The Bears can turn their attention to what is still the worst receiving core in the NFL. The Bears have the #3 slot WR position locked up with Earl Bennett, but they still need a #1 and #2 WR. This league is going the way of the super weapon offense, like the Packers and the Saints, and the Bears are showing up with a good old reliable knife. By adding Garcon the Bears give Cutler a solid dependable #2 WR that runs good routes and get deep. By adding Floyd the Bears give Cutler a big bodied physical #1 WR that can catch jump balls and run the slants and fades that we cannot. More importantly Floyd gives Cutler a legitimate redzone target.

2[48] OT Levy Adcock [Oklahoma St] 6’6” 330lbs.

The Bears OL has improved steadily and actually looked pretty solid in the last few weeks. The Bears may not need an immediate starter, but they do need to continue to add depth and competition to the position. Adcock can step in at RT if Carimi needs to move across to LT if Webb struggles. Adcock has played all over the Oklahoma St OL and has the size and physical nature to play OG in the Bears system.
