Jennings Benched for Bowman [CB Discussion]

    Vaughn McClure Twitter

Tim Jennings said he was officially benched in favor of Zack Bowman.

I like the move as Jennings has struggled and both he and Bowman are free agents and we need to see who is going to be kept and who is going to get the boot.

The big decision is at the #2 spot.

    1. Tillman
    2. Bowman/Jennings/Free Agent
    3. Moore
    4. Graham, I would rather have him than either Jennings or Bowman
    5. Daft Pick

They both fucking suck, so it's just one turd swapped in for another. Been saying it since last year, Jennings blows. He makes a couple big diving PBUs early last season and people start slobbing his knob, regardless of the fact that he had blown the coverage in both instances requiring a leaping play. The guy is lucky not to have a holding or PI called against him every single snap.

People keep trying to convince me #1 CBs don't have so much value in the cover 2 and we can succeed with zone specialists, well fuck that. Give me an honest-to-god talented CB who can line up across from teams best receivers and stand a chance at shutting them down, and I'll be a happy man.

Jennings is more physical and every few games makes you glad he's out there, but gets beat WAY to often. Bowman just blows.

Let me guess...Bowman will show brief signs of life for two games then next season will flame out and JA will use this as an excuse not to get a CB next season. Bowman is good on ST-leave him there. Graham should start.

sfb those excuses only work for excuses on the oline and tommie harris lol

and I agree with the consensus I think Bowman is one of the worse CBs of the Lovie Smith era. Jennings was serviceable not exactly horrible but its plain and obvious we can use an upgrade

Needless to say CB is a pretty big need and we should,

    Let Jennings and Bowman walk.

    Sign a starting caliber CB

    Resign Graham as deopth

    Extend D.J Moore

And....draft a developmental CB in ~ 3rd round (Donnie Fletcher?)

Bowman can't tackle for shit despite his size advantage over Jennings. If I had to keep one of them, it would be Jennings despite his faults. Graham and Moore are solid nickle corners and maybe CG could play CB2 opposite Tillman, I don't know. But we do well know what Jennings' strengths and weaknesses are so let Bowman and Graham start the next two games respectively and see if there is any hope for them there. I doubt there is for ZB and since CG is good at nickle and on ST, he stays and Bowman goes.

It is a lot like our need at WR--we need someone to be an starter upgrade for next year AND a new young player out of the draft to develop.

Hell since it's scrub time throw in Josh Moore and some of the others.

A solid bigger sized bump + run corner is a MUST. I'm of a mindset that this team needs to draft the kinds of players that can give Rodgers + the Frackers fits. Good enough to beat the Frackers is good enough to beat anyone else. My draft board would be :

    1 ) OL
    2 ) CB
    3 ) WR
    4 ) TE
    5 ) WR

FA : an experienced backup QB ( with decent feet ) / CB / OL.

For guys like Lach, Briggs, Tillman the window is CLOSING ! Enough fiddlefracking around- Go all in for next season.

If not then blow it up and change everything from the coaches down to the janitors.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?
