Bears Resign Edwin Williams for 2 years.
ChicagoBearscom ChicagoBears.com
LM: #Bears have signed OL Edwin Williams to two-year contract extension through 2013 season.
This is a great move by the Bears.
Williams is a young, versatile and developing back up and has filled in well for Chris Williams and we need guys like this on the team.
This also means that Jerry is going nowhere as he would not be allowed to resign players if he was on his way out.

Backwards move spending cap space on back up talent. This is the crap that prevents us from investing in solid starters

Quality young backups at all three interior positions are pretty damn valuable to a line's stability.

I like this, and i forget the deadline, but if they could sign forte to a good deal, the first year would count against this year's salary cap. Therefore, he gets paid, and the bears could do more with FA, if there is someone we could really pursue. dont forget angelo tried to get cullen jenkins and a few other good players, but couldnt hang with the deals offered. Dont be surprised if with the money we have, and that the mccaskeys loosen the purse strings after a bad year, if we got a few good names in the offseason.
