The Non 1st Round WR Offseason

    Free Agents

WR Dwayne Bowe [Kansas City] 5 years 42.5 million/21 guaranteed

The Bears need a #1 WR and with limited options in the draft and Angelo's inability to evaluate WR talent the Bears need to spend money to do it. Bowe is a big physical target that has produced with terrible QB play.

CB Terrell Thomas [New York] 4 years 22.5 million/10 guaranteed

Tim Jennings and Zach Bowman are leaving in free agency and the Bears need a starting CB with size and the ability to tackle. An ACL injury will bring Thomas, who is one of the best tackling CBs in the NFL, for a reduced price.

    Re-Sign

RB Matt Forte [5 years 40 million/21 guaranteed]

A must resign and the most dynamic playmaker that the Bears have.
QB Josh McCown [2 years 2 million]
Where was he at the beginning of the season.

TE Kellen Davis [2 years 4.5 million/2 guaranteed]

The Bears and Davis have still not realized his potential, but he is a very good run blocker and I think could be a very good receiver.

    DE Israel Idoinje [2 years 6 million/ 2 guaranteed]

Idonije might not be the pass rusher that the Bears need across from Peppers he is a great run stuffer and a perfect rotational player.

    CB D.J Moore [4 years 10 million/5 guaranteed]

Perfect for the defense and a true take away machine he should be resigned for the top level of what a nickel CB gets.

DT Amobi Okoye [4 years 14 million/6 guaranteed]

Okoye has proven to be a nice rotational player and has shown he can get to the QB. The Bears should try and resign him and keep him in the competition, but he is not worth breaking the bank for.

CB Corey Graham [3 years 5 million/3 guaranteed]

A valuable special teamer and has flashed a knack for the ball in limited defensive reps. The Bears should keep the special teams captain.

    S Craig Steltz [2 years 2.5 million/1 guaranteed]

Steltz has been a consistent contributor and can hold up as a sport starter and a leader on special teams.

RB Khalil Bell [2 years 3 million/1 guaranteed]

Bell in my opinion has earned the right to be the primary back up, he runs hard and catches the ball well out of the backfield.

    Draft

    1[16] DE Whitney Mercilus [Illinois] 6’4” 265lbs.

The Bears address the WR and CB need in free agency and I do not think they are going to draft a LT. The Bears need to get younger on defense and continue to add pass rush. Izzy has not produced the sacks opposite of Peppers and Mercilus is an elite athlete and a relentless rusher.

    2[48] WR Jeff Fuller [Texas A&M] 6’3” 225lbs.

The Bears get the #1 WR in Bowe and add another big physical target to develop as the #2 WR. Fuller has had a down year but he has great size, hands and can physically beat up on a CB.

    3[74] C Ben Jones [Georgia] 6’3” 316lbs.

Garza has played well at C, but he is aging and could be upgraded in the next couple of years. Jones is a big technician that can be developed and allow Spencer to say at OG long term.

    3[80] LB Danny Trevathan [Kentucky] 6’1” 235lbs.

The Bears need youth and speed at LB and Trevathan can step in and develop as the long term solution at WLB.

    4. S Brandon Taylor [LSU] 6’1” 195lbs.

The Bears need depth at the safety position with Major Wright's injuries and inconsistent play. Taylor has speed and can tackle two things that the Bears covet at the position.

    5. OT Bradley Sowell [Mississippi] 6’7” 325lbs.

The Bears need depth at the OT position and Sowell has the size to play RT and the experience at LT and will allow Carimi to compete at LT with Webb.

    6. LB Chris Marve [Vanderbilt] 6’ 242lbs.

The Bears add more depth to the LB core with the undersized Marve who has the nose for the ball.

    7. TE DeAngelo Peterson [LSU] 6’3” 245lbs.

The Bears add an incredibly athletic TE that is raw and will need time to develop, but is worth the risk.
