This quote from Des Clark says it all. Angelo hired Martz so in addition to his own issues with player personnel he also has to answer for making the decision to hire Martz in the first place. Thank God the two biggest obstacles to a successful team are now gone.
In the words of the old time mafia dons, "A stone has been removed from our shoe".
Former Bears tight end Dez Clark, who spent 12 years in the NFL and the last eight with the Bears, said Tuesday on his Twitter account: “Egos and head butting led to the departures of Jerry Angelo and Mike Martz. Not a good situation the last 2 years. Awful environment to work.”

I hope we get a young OC that understands and knows how to run an O in todays NFL.
I think this is going to make that trade for Olsen look worse. He had a pretty solid year considering he was competing w/a Pro Bowl TE in Shockey, and I can only imagine what he could have done here w/no TE opposite him if he had an OC that knew wtf to do w/the position.

We are going to have trouble getting legit oc now that lovie stays just like when we got martz. Keeping lovie is a backwards move. I think they should have cleaned house to make the job more attractive

These were the two big moves which needed to be made. Martz offense is too complex and woefully outdated in addition to being a very poor fit for the Chicago Bears personnel. Angelo is another football guy who just never got it. Another hold over from the way Mikey ran things. Hired as a result of an executive search firms analysis and recommendations.
I wonder how many Super Bowl Rings those guys have?????
In the final analysis you have two very arrogant stubborn guys playing by totally different rules and with completely different expectations of one another. You have to wonder why Lovie didn't take any action. Maybe he just decided not to rock the boat, do his best to compete with the marginal talent and depth he was provided, and keep his mouth shut and his rather large paycheck intact.
I agree that Lovie shouldn't be held responsible for his roster shortcomings when it seems that everyone but Jerry Angelo knew that was needed to keep pace with the Packers. Even if you wanted to if you tossed out the coaching staff as well it would be another three years before this team would competitive again. No Lovie stays but is put on short notice by the new GM that anything less than a championship or near championship season in 2012 and he and his staff are gone as well.
Kudos to George McCaskey for acting like a concerned owner should.

I like lovie, and wholeheartedly believe he's done more with less talent than just about any other HC. With that said, i will not be surprised if more people like fischer openly salivate over this job. Honestly, we do have enough here to make something happen, and i doubt lovie is the only coach to see that
