OC Options being mentioned for the Bears

Colts' Christensen likely Bears OC candidate - chicagotribune.com

    Tribune News Services
    2:33 p.m. CST, January 3, 2012

With the Chicago Bears and Mike Martz officially parting ways Tuesday, the team must move swiftly to secure yet another offensive coordinator for quarterback Jay Cutler and is expected to take a serious look at Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

Christensen could be let go by the Colts once a new general manager takes over in Indianapolis. Colts owner Jim Irsay fired Bill and Chris Polian on Monday but continues to evaluate the coaching staff.

Can't the Redskins just fire Mike Shanahan? ^^

Yes, he failed miserably in both seasons as HC in Washington but remember how well he and Cutler worked together back in '07-'08?

Well, he's apparently a huge Jesus boy, so that gives him a leg-up with Lovie. Also, it seems Colts fans hate the hell out of him, but that's nothing new for a shit team to take out there anger on everyone and their mother.

Aren't we in the same position as we were 2 years ago? Lovie looking like a lame duck coach; only this time a new GM is going to have to deal w/him for 1 year before bringing in his own guy instead of the GM Lovie was brought in by possibly sticking w/his coach?

And went on to suck the fat one in Seattle which resulted in his firing after one season.

We can't afford Shanny but we can afford the guy who was Jay's QB coach and playcaller, Jeremy Bates.

The problem with scaring up a new OC as I see it is that all they can offer is a two year deal which is what's left on Lovies deal. It almost has to be someone who was recently fired or you bring in a guy like Bates and pair him with Tice. Tice can run the line and the running game while Bates handles the QB and receiver positions and calls plays on Sundays.

Whoever it turns out to be he needs to realize TE's are more than just spare OT's used to bail JWebb out of hot water. I truly believe Kellen Davis could be a much better all around TE than Greg Olsen will ever be. He just needs to be thrown to often enough to show it.

It's a good day. I'm just glad the two biggest stumbling blocks to the Bears success are now gone. There is little out there that wouldn't be an improvement over those two.

Personally, I feel Lovie's earned the right to stay on. If next season tanks he'll obviously go, but he's done better than I feel he gets credit for. In fact, he's chicken salad outta the chicken shit Angelo gave him.
