Just imagine what it will be like, sox, if he builds the Cubs up into a pennant winner. You think the city went nuts over the White Sox? You won't have seen anything yet.

I hear ya'. He hasn't done a damn thing for the Cubs yet and they already want to make him a hero.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

But will all of "Duh Region" and nursing home patients be able to get rides to the parade from the Trixie's and drunken ex frat boys still living the dream up in the bleachers?

Will Cliff Stein still be retained? I thought I heard he was in the last year of his own contract. He needs to stay imo.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Yeah and that'll happen right after the sun rises in the west. Theo Epstein or not this is the Cubs were talking about.

Phillips seemed to indicate that he would but some of that may depend upon who they hire as the GM.
On the thread topic; I listened to an interview with John Clayton on ESPN Chicago and he believes DeCosta is the Bears number one candidate. He also believes that unlike the past where DeCosta has been approached but never had a serious interest in leaving Baltimore this time there is a serious interest but that the Bears will have to sell him on the idea of uprooting his family to Chicago.
Clayton gave the main reasons for DeCosta's interest as;
* Big market franchise
* Franchise QB in place
* Ample resources to fill player needs
* Lovie is an easy HC to work with
* GM position now rather than waiting for Ozzie Newsome to retire
Clayton made it seem like this was the Bears deal to win or lose based on how well the presented their case.

I understand that he has not done anything for the Cubs yet.
What I meant is that he was a hire with a proven track record of success. DeCosta has the best resume of any applying for jobs and Theo was the same way.

Just confirmed in the score, he is staying in Baltimore

Thanks Benji. If McKenzie is going to Oakland I'd say that puts Ross (Giants) and Snead (Falcons) next in line. This is kind of disappointing since DeCosta and McKenzie appeared to be the top prospects. I guess John Clayton misread the tea leaves on DeCosta.
