Changes should have been made a couple years ago, it's all about the money as it always is with Phillips he hated to eat the contracts of both J.A. and Lovie so Lovie was retained and basically forced upon the next G.M. candidate ruling out several because most G.M.'s want to put their own people in place.

For Phillips this is about the coin and not wanting to build a competitive franchise, he can't help it as he is an accountant and money triumphs above and over everything else and rules his and the Bears world. Promoting Ruskell who consolidated the offices of pro personnel and college scouting directors has already taken over the spots of two men within upper management why not add G.M. to his title and save even more. It would also give an excuse for next season if it goes wrong by saying he had to much on his plate to be effective in his role as G.M. steering once again the blame from Phillips to Ruskell.

I guess we have to wait and see and hope Phillips is that blind squirrel and finds that nut after all we fans have waited this long what's a few more years as long as fans keep buying the fact Phillips is doing a great job in running the team and the G.M. is to blame for everything the longer Phillips and the McCaskeys milk the fans. The new motto of Phillips and the McCaskeys should be "Mediocrity By Design"

MCaskey has already stated that money won't be an issue so if it turns out that it is and even appears that the Bears are trying to economize and not get a top notch personnel guy I don't think the Bears faithful will be so faithful anymore. He and Phillips have publicly stated their position on this so I would hope that keeps them from backtracking. If it ends up being Ruskell and he doesn't have a first rate free agency and draft they'll get roasted from every direction it can come from.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

We should all know by now that the Chicago Bears are a poorly run franchise and have been for decades. Virginia McCaskey basically inherited the team from Papa Bear having not a God damn care in the world for the sport of pro football, and she hired her idiot son, Michael, to run the team like a business trying to keep a tight budget and turn a profit.

Foolishly, it's fans like us who continue to turn on our TV sets and walk through the turnstiles at Soldier Field and be loyal patrons of a franchise that doesn't give what the fans want. At one time, the Chicago Bears were the dominant franchise in the NFL, but in the past 65 years, we have appeared in four NFL Championship Games (1956, 1963, 1985, and 2006) and have won exactly two World Championships. Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers played on losing teams their entire careers save for two seasons, and Walter Payton never played for a contender until 1984. Mike Ditka did what he could to coach up the Bears, but his run-ins with the McCaskeys cost him his job, and then Wanny came in. Wanny fucks the pooch in six seasons as head coach, then Jauron gets the job and only has one winning season, in which he won a division championship by the thinnest of margins. Love could be a great coach if he had better talent to work with, but as it sits, he's had an up-and-down career as head coach.

What does that all tell you about the franchise? Somehow, some way, there has to be a point in time when the McCaskeys sell the Chicago Bears for the betterment of the franchise. If they don't, we're just going to continue to see more inconsistencies in the finishes to seasons.

The Bears faithful myself included has followed this team for many years already and I imagine for many more years to come. They may lose a few of us here and there but there always seems to be some one else waiting in wings to replace those who leave, season ticket sales support this by the waiting list. We shall see what Phillips does but as of right now I'm thinking it will be Ruskell appointed the new G.M.
