Listening to Waddle and Silvy right now on ESPN 1000 AM. Heard that any GM would inherit Tim Ruskell because the Bears are too cheap to eat up the contract to fire him.
So does that mean the Bears are going with Tim Ruskell if they don't hire another GM because they are too cheap? Blah..

I have my serious doubts that the Bears search has ended just because DeCosta and McKenzie are off the board. Despite rumors to the contrary DeCosta was always a long shot anyway. He's been turning down offers for years and I would imagine Baltimore pays handsomely to keep the guy who will replace Newsome one day.
McKenizie was 50-50 because he had ties both to Lovie and to the Raiders. It looks as if that old Raider loyalty won out. Just because we missed on these two is no reason to just throw the towel in and accept Ruskell. He's never proven to be good GM material before so I don't know why they'd go that route already.
Based on what we hear now the Bears are vetting Les Snead from Atlanta so we may see him come in for an interview and there are still a handful of other personnel directors who may be a fit. Bill and Chris Polian may come into the picture as well.
I don't believe Tim Ruskell is untouchable regardless of what may have been said. Somebody has to mind the store in the front office and keep preparations for scouting the college players on track. If the new GM has a use for Ruskell maybe he stays but if he doesn't I can't see Ted Phillips demanding that he be retained no matter what his contract situation.
If money isn't an object in this search as has been said and they're willing to give the guy full charge of player personnel and the checkbook to improve the talent it makes no sense that they would demand he keep Tim Ruskell if he has no need for the guy or they can't work together.
I'm not pushing the panic button just because two guys have turned us down. DeCosta was a very long shot to begin with and McKenzie was 50-50. There are still more guys to review.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Ruskil era will begin any day now. We have a penny pinching CEO making the moves and this will be the most economical way to move forward. Just like promoting Tice which I predicted last offseason. Im writing 2012 off and Im waiting for 2013 already. GO BULLS AND BLACKHAWKS..............

Did they not just fire a guy with $$$ left they gotta pay? Also, hasn't it been strongly hinted that we are gonna be players in FA? This may just be a new era in Chi town, and with getting rid of the obvious problems, pessimism shouldn't be the default reaction; hell, they tried to get both GM's, guys that weren't gonna come cheap..

Wow...way for the Bears to halfass it.
As the saying goes, "be careful what you wish for..."
So, we wanted JA and Martz gone. Done.
Unfortunately, we cant attract any quality GM to replace JA, because they are handcuffed before they even get here. Want a new HC? Screw you, youll take Lovie. Want to pick a new OC? Screw you, Tice is the new OC.
Whoever is going to accept the GM job for the Bears...my condolences.

One of the reasons why I think Ruskell is the new permanent GM. Why else would they announce Mike Tice as the OC?

At this point...i wouldnt be surprised. They can just keep on making the coaching changes before the GM even gets here...the more they do, the less desirable this job will become to prospective GMs. Whats the point in accepting the job, if all the decisions are made before you were even hired? This is ridiculous.

How are these things even remotely connected? The OC job was Lovie's to hand out, as Turd made it clear in his presser, and Lovie said he ideally would like to promote from within at his.
