Tim Ruskel to be the new Bears GM?
Several news and rumors are saying the Bears are seriously considering promoting him to be the new GM according to 670 The Score

I think it was 4th that originally brought up the idea a month or so ago that if Jerry was fired, they would bring in Ruskell as the new GM and it was Jerry's plan all along. Just to stick it to the Bears. Hah.

That was if JA retired. He was fired. JA should have no say in who gets the job now. If he gets promoted, he is likely to get a new contract. You can not expect a GM to fix anything in one year.

come on the bears half assed this from the beginning, we should have known they were going to half ass the GM hiring as well. i think we were just delusional in our hopes Georgie boy would be any different than the rest of the McCaskeys.
this is what happens when you put glorified accountants in charge.

It is believed Phillips wants to focus on external candidates before giving Ruskell consideration.
Sounds like he's their worst case scenario. Dont lose faith just yet....

Lol @ Ruskell. You just know the whole staff is preaching continuity and wanting to "maintain the system" i.e. job security.
If this happens I'm with Motown and will wait 'till 2013. And as for the apologist who thinks Ruskell will be a sufficient fill-in why don't you go check the ol' Seahawk message boards.
Ruskell LOL
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Ruskell has good relationships with head coach Lovie Smith, the assistant coaches and the scouting staff. He understands the team’s schematic philosophies and the lay of the land. Retaining him would minimize change but still give the Bears a new voice and direction.

The “reason” may be as simple as having a Plan B with which they are at least OK: Tim Ruskell in place as director of player personnel. Ruskell’s record at Tampa Bay and Seattle are open to question; that’s for another time. And the fact that he was brought in by Angelo wouldn’t normally be a positive for his chances.

Wow, didn't see that one coming.

This was invevitable when you think about it. Most said it, and those such as I just hoped it would not be so, but you don't bring in a new GM and tell him he has to fit into the current coaches system/philosphy and expect to get the GM you want.
This is a laughable joke, and if this is what it's going to be w/Lovie(as much as I respect him as a coach) then he needs to be fired, along w/Ted Ruskell, Tice, Rod, and the rest of the staff. Virginia(as crude as it is) cannot die soon enough so that the team is sold.
