I personally want to see a 50/50 or no lower than a 55/45 distribution of run and pass. When we did this each of the past two years, we won games. It worked in the year that the supposed extinction of the defenses/power running game came to pass, so why wouldn't it work in the future?
Tice comments about the offense indicated he would game plan and play call based on what the opposing defense gives up. That may seem like a trite statement because that's what you're supposed to do but it isn't what Martz did. The more the pass rush heated up the more passing plays he called. Instead of simplifying game plans and play calls for Hanie each game was more complex that the last.
There may have been better choices for an OC. Guys who have called offensive plays and written game plans but there's no doubt that Tice was the most expedient and logical choice. After Martz anybody whose sane would be an improvement.

I think Tice is the perfect guy for the job. There is a reason that the Tennessee Titans wanted him as their offensive coordinator last season. That reason is because he believes in a hardcore running attack that sets up playaction passes. That has been the Tennessee Titans' method of operation for almost twenty years going back to the Jeff Fisher era. Mike Munchak was the offensive line coach under Fisher and is now the head coach. He wanted Tice because he shared in his philosophy.
The reason I would want Jeff Fisher as the head coach of the Bears should Lovie ever wind up getting fired is because Fisher wouldn't deviate far from the offensive strategy that Lovie employed during the majority of his tenure. If Lovie were to retire and leave his team to one of his assistants to succeed him, I would want Tice to get the job for that very reason over Rod Marinelli. (After all, another reason I wouldn't want Rod Marinelli to coach my team is because he went 0-16 one season.)
Fisher's not waiting around for the Bears gig. It's either St. Louis or Miami for him. Talk about from the frying pan into the fire. If I were Fisher I guess I'd probably go to the Rams. At least then your QB problems would be solved.
