Year of the Qb my backside...

After watching that NO/SF game and combining what NE did w/their O, it's the year of the TE!

This is why Martz needed to be fired, and should have never been brought in, for once the Bears were ahead of the curve w/a serious TE O weapon and we brought in a OC from the mid 90's that didn't know how to use them in todays NFL. Watching SF/NO abuse the D's w/Davis and Graham made me wish for Olsen split out wide in a Bears uni.

I would love to have our team set up like SF, great D, great running game, and a just explosive enough O. Alex just resurrected his career. Which brings me to another point, smith was considered an unmitigated disaster of a bust, he had 7 oc's in 7 years. Now he looks like he deserves to be out there b/c he is in the right O. I wonder how much better Haine, w/an OC that actually met w/him durring the year and let him take snaps during the season, and then actually allowed him to play in a system that suited his skillset(imo wc) would have looked.

btw, looks like running the ball and playing tough nosed D still wins games in the playoffs(another Chi Bear tennant) . NO had a laughable 37 yards running, but 458 yards in the air. SF, 299 passing, but 145 on the ground. If they can put those kind of #'s up against GB they could be in the SB.

I agree...TEs have had a ridiculous year, but who do you think throws to them? heh.
Dont forget about NE and their ridiculous TE set as well, Grabowski or whatever the dude's name is, and Hernandez.

Honestly, had NO won the game, i was ready to declare the Death of Defense. They posted a stat that said in playoff history, teams with a +4 turnover ration were 71-1. Defense is truly on life support, now its all about Offense, Passing and receiving TEs.....and we dumped Olsen...BRILLIANT!!

But yeah...this is why i hope our new GM will realize these facts and develop our team moving forward. We have the RB and QB...just need to fix the OL, and we have seen the importance TEs can have, so we dont necessarily NEED a top ranked WR if we have "above average" ones and solid TEs who can catch (we already know Forte can catch). Everyone is worred about the age of our D, but i think its more important to develop our offense then it is to replace aging D players.

My mock draft, I have the Bears drafting Coby Fleener, TE from Stanford in the second round.

Well, considering he was one, Tice seems like the right man to scout, teach and utilize them. He certainly loves his TEs.

we don't really know what we have in Davis. But I would want to draft a TE or sign Shockey as insurance

Heh ... I mentioned him a long time ago. He can run and catch and his blocking has improved tremendously( but still needs work ). I'd love to see him a Bear more than anybody. He's from my alma mater and he's a great kid off the field as well.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

I've watched a lot of Stanford games this year and I really really really want the Bears to take him in the second round. He's a big play-maker and I would be sad to see him go to another team in the division.

Martz was an arrogant fool. Even when the TE made plays he refused to go back to them. Wasn't there a point early this year when Davis had 3 td's in his last 5 catches. Martz has an antiquated offense. He's no longer a good developer of QB's as evidenced by how poorly prepared Hanie appeared and all Martz did was add to his load every games that past. He was the wrong guy in the first place so let's just be glad the asshole is gone.

He's projected 2-3 round, and as much as I'd like to see it , I'd go : LT, big CB, WR . Doubt he'd fall to rd.4 so unless we trade for more picks ..... Harbaugh might want him in SF to back up Davis - Indy might take him to be with Luck .... who knows. Just hoping he has a great career wherever he winds up.
