Pats Jason Licht Interviewed Today Chargers JimmY Raye Tomorrow............
Bears interview Patriots' Licht for GM job
By Brad Biggs, Tribune reporter 4:29 p.m. CST, January 16, 2012
Nearly two weeks after the removal of Jerry Angelo as general manager, the Chicago Bears moved to the interview phase of their search for a replacement Monday by completing a session with New England Patriots director of pro personnel Jason Licht.
Licht was the first of four external candidates scheduled to be interviewed by the club. Jimmy Raye III, the director of player personnel for the San Diego Chargers, is expected to meet with the Bears on Tuesday. The club also will interview New York Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross and Kansas City Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery.
The Bears have not ruled out their own director of player personnel Tim Ruskell as a candidate for the job. It’s also possible the Bears will add additional candidates as the process continues.
Licht is in his second stint with the Patriots. One strength he has is experience with five organizations, giving him the ability to draw ideas from lots of different people. A former walk-on at Nebraska and an all-conference defensive tackle at Nebraska Wesleyan, he served as a vice president of player personnel for the Eagles and as a personnel executive for the Cardinals when they reached the Super Bowl in 2008. Licht has a background in college scouting, too, as he started out as a college scout before shifting to pro personnel.
The St. Louis Rams also are conducting a search for a general manager. None of the names linked to the Bears at this point are believed to be on the list that the Rams are working with.

I'll take either of them if it means no ruskell. I'd take a blind chimp throwing darts at a board over Ruskell. He couldn't possibly do worse.

Well that's one interview down. Since this guy has had jobs both as a pro and college personnel guy he fits what they're looking for but I'd be surprised if he's at the top of the list. He's been around the block a few times though and always worked for successful teams.

Well, Cheetah is dead, but I still don't think that he was blind. You might want to go dig up his grave and see for sure, though. He might look like Ray Charles does about now.

Jeez Ric, now you say that after we just fired Angelo and his chimp.

I just hope we can get this situation settled in time to offer Toub a deal to stay.

Well, Toub is signed. Now we have to hope that Tice doesn't take the Oakland Raiders position and also go about the business of finding a new GM!
