Love, love, love, this move. Question is who is doing the signing?
Would love to see this guy move up through the ranks and take over.

I would guess Phillips is handling all the contract negotiations right now. He did before Angelo came along and for all we know he kept his hand in it after that too.
I love keeping him around too. If Lovie fails to put us back in contention next year Toub would be high on my list of HC prospects.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Finally some good news. ;-)

1. Firing JA
2. Firing MM
3. Promoting/keeping Tice
4. Extending Toub
Pinch me...is it possible that the Chicago Bears have actually made 4 straight wise moves already in this young offseason?
Interesting how Toub's contract extension coincides exactly with Lovie's expiration...hmmm, I think the new GM may have an excellent in-house new HC candidate if Lovie craps the field the next year or two.
5. New asst-OC/pass coach
6. New GM
Is it too much to hope the Bears can go 6 for 6?

Those are my thoughts too. If he's getting interviews, and it's obviously not because of the Rooney Rule, at least one team thinks he's got HC potential. That's about the same way it began with Rivera. First it was one team then a couple more. I think it builds as time goes by. Like I've said he's the best coach we have.

I like the off-field moves that have been made thus far. Hard to find much to criticize there (maybe keeping Drake is about the only thing). The organization is recognizing and rewarding existing assets and jettisoning dead weight and under-performers. Hope that continues with the remaining 2 positions to fill and then the on-field personnel.

They did. He got a two year deal that makes him the second highest paid ST Coordinator in the NFL. For some odd reason the Bears never want any employee to be the highest paid guy at any given position with the team.

Anyone know Toub's background? IOW, is he from the offensive or defensive school?

Looks like mostly strength and conditioning and special teams and a little defensive line according to his bio.
