Hue Jackson was the best coach they've had in years and he was groomed and hand picked by Al Davis. The old man dies and the kid fires Jackson because he thinks the guys who have been coaches there won't respect him because of the way Al used to treat him in front of them. He's so insecure that he has to build a wall around himself to hide behind and he'll let McKenzie be his henchman. McKenzie didn't fire Jackson, Davis Jr. did.
Of course they have to give permission for him to interview but just like DeCosta he doesn't have to accept the invitation. If he goes, he goes and we find ourselves another OC. What else can you do but like I said, he'd be 100% crazy to take the job. That organization is 100x worse than the Bears.
I was thinking that same thing which is why I am not all that worried about the unlikely possibility of losing him. I don't think he would find the job very appealing even if one was offerred. Oakland is a dysfunctional organization who just fired their (good) HC because...why? They finished 8-8 and didn't make the PO after losing their starting QB mid-year? And then gave away the store to get Palmer who was sitting home and and not much better than what they already had? That go-for-broke move prob cost their GM his job but it wasn't on the HC.
The Raiders have little to work with in terms of upcoming draft picks either so it's gonna be a multi-year process and Oakland doesn't seem to give their HCs that allowance.

We blocked him from interviewing once before then made good by promoting him to OC. I think he stays because he may be in line to replace Lovie eventually. Not much security in Oakland these days for sure.

Yeah that job is like asking someone to captain a submarine with a leaking door...and giving him a roll of duct tape for repairs.
I think Tice stays too, even if he's offered the job. The Oakland HC position has got to be one of the least desirable "promotions" in the NFL right now.

Also doesn't Mark Davis, Oakland's owner by inheritance, looks a lot like a potential love child of Lloyd and Harry from Dumb & Dumber?!

I was searching for someone to compare him to and you hit the nail on the head. If that's not a toupe it's the worst haircut I've seen in 40 years. People stopped wearing their hair that way in 1975. What a douche.
In the article I read about him it said that sometimes Al would call him into the room when he was meeting with coaches and scouts about draft choices. Al would ask him who he'd draft. When he'd say something like, "well we need a wide receiver", Al would scream at him that he was stupid and to get the fuck out of the room.
Look at it this way. Mark Davis was to Al as Ed McCaskey was to George Halas. Halas would let Ed sit in on a meeting and then dismiss him for some errand and when he left George would tell the room, "there goes the stupidest son of a bitch I know".
If Mike Tice actually wants to work for that organization as opposed to the Bears then he's not the guys for us anyway.

Not good. I read that he was joining Fisher with the Rams.

I think he stays. It's likely he will look competent at OC (compared to Martz) and raise his stock even more. If it was the 'fins or something I would worry.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

It should also be pointed out than in addition to Tice I've seen about a dozen other candidates including the Broncos OC being listed as guys they want to interview. I'm just waiting for the phone to ring to see if I've been added to that list as well. They may want to consider "arm chair" coaching candidates as well, LOL.

Dear Mark Davis,
Since you like Bears OCs...Mike Martz is available and he's got a "plan" all figured out. He loves that hybrid John Denver/Moe-from-the-Stooges thing you got going on there too, xoxo.

Actually as much as that team has always loved it's downfield passing game and long scoring plays Martz would be an ideal guy for them. The fact that he's not on that list speaks volumes about his status. Retiring was a graceful way to say nobody wants me anymore.

Do they also love triple reverse end arounds that get stuffed for a loss on 4th and 3? It's a marriage made in heaven lol.
