He's had his chances there as well. He sucked there the first time around, couldn't win a nickel job for years after that and finally came up with some errant throw picks this season. He's a 15 yard and inside CB, and that's fine, not everyone can be a starter on the outside in this league. He and others just shouldn't rest too hard on fortuitous picks that went his way in that role when they consider expanding his playtime.

If they would let these guys play the position, instead of making them so worried about coming up in run support, the results would be better. Isn't this supposedly a PASSING LEAGUE now ? Instead we have a HC who thinks like a DINOSAUR and is more worried about stopping the run. Got any games recorded ? WATCH how quickly Bears SAFETIES get sucked up on play action passes.

Somebody needs to loosen up the cement in the dinosaurs head and remind him what the 1st rule of playing safety is. DUH.

The revolving door is because Lovie wants 5 linebackers and 2 corners. He's expecting these guys to do too much ( which is what they'd all probably say if they could )...... and that's bad coaching.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

Are you saying that Lovie wants to do a reversal of Tom Landry's 4-0 defense? lol

There is only one Safety who rates a first round pick as an immediate starter and that's Mark Barron. The rest are pretty much in a similar category with Wright and Conte. They have some talent but are anything but a sure thing.

I think you're right about where we need to look for some help since the Meriweather experiment was a colossal failure. For once I'd like to see the same guys playing Safety for more than one season.

Fortuitous or not the guy made three picks in three games playing NB which to me means he had to be around the ball. Plain luck or great instincts? Steltz is a very instinctive player but he lacks cover speed. Graham may not have the goods to play CB but he has plenty of speed and tackling skills of a good safety although he may lack a bit in size.

I guess the way I'm looking at it is that we're not exactly flush with DB talent right now and even if we sign a good FA Safety and draft a CB we're still not gonna have them lined up waiting for their shot. Graham has proven himself to be a good football players and you don't let good football players walk. Whatever failures he may have experienced in the past shouldn't go against him now. He's earned another shot. Look how long Manning bounced around back there before he finally settled in to his spot. Of course then we let him walk and if we do the same with Graham it will be an even bigger mistake IMO.

As far as Graham goes didn't he wind up in the doghouse because of his refusal to play FS a few seasons age? Like Sox said he has some of the tools but not all. He and Moore provide great depth. I don't want his playing full time effect his ST play considering we've already lost one good gunner (Hurd). We need CB's bad. I would think a FA vet and a draft pick would go a long way towards replentishing the position.

The trouble is he wants it to affect it. He wants a shot at starting and the $$$ that goes with it and he can't make that on ST's. We've got a choice. Either make him the highest paid ST guy in the league or give him his raise and give him his shot at CB or SS/FS. He's never demanded a starting spot be given to him but he wants a shot at earning one. With all the guy has done I don't see how we deny him the chance.

I don't know if anyone noticed or not but Ayanbadejo was playing LB for the Ravens yesterday. No matter how good these guys are they just won't stay on ST forever.

I'm sure that somewhere in the middle of the draft, we'll pick someone to play safety and we'll let Graham. That's the Bears way of doing business. lol
