Jackie they announced that they had hired him but I didn't think he could actually sign his contract and show up for work until they were out of it. Maybe that rule is null and void if the team gives permission. Hadn't thought of that. If that's the case then you're right provided NY allows it. Could be a moot point by Monday anyhow.

A little tidbit on emery...... He was involved in the terrific scouting that got omyale drafted lol

That's what's been said but it was Davis Jr. (Mark, Al's son) who fired him after he got McKenzie's agreement on it. I read a rather lengthy article about the relationship between father and son and in a typical Raider dysfunctional way it was not very good at all. Why Al left him in charge is probably a mystery to many. I think this guy could make Mikey McCaskey look like he knew what he was doing.
Firing Jackson, who was Al's handpicked guy, was an "up your ass" to his father, a way to get rid of coaches Al had berated him in front of and may not have respected him, and also a way to show who was boss by firing the best coach they've had in a decade. Real clever first moves there huh?
Jackson was a casualty and McKenzie the wall Davis Jr. will hide his ineffectiveness behind and he already did it by getting some to believe that it was McKenzie who let him go. Why would he do that in his frist day or two on the job before he even had a chance to have a sit down with the guy to learn whether they were on the same page?

I'm glad that Ross made it in for the final five candidates to be interviewed. He's in my top two executives to take the GM position for the Bears along with Jimmy Raye. The thing I like about Ross as much as anything else is that he made draft picks for two teams that have or will have played in two NFC Championship Games, including one that won a Super Bowl. He is really good at analyzing offensive talent, particularly at wide receiver, as he drafted Hakeem Nicks and picked up UDFA Victor Cruz, who had over 1,500+ yards receiving. I have a feeling that either candidate will be a great pickup for the Bears, but as good as Jimmy Raye's players have been, none of them have ever won a championship.
I hate to Jinx the guy but Ross would be my 1st pick, toss up between Emery and Raye 2nd and Ruskell and Licht last.
