So maybe Emery tomorrow and Ruskell and Friday and all five interviews are done. If it's anyone besides Ross they could announce it this weekend, or it may leak. If it's Ross they need to wait until the Giants are either eliminated or win the big prize which could be Sunday or two weeks from Sunday. Do they really want to wait that long to put somebody in place?
Heard Hub Arkush on his regular visit with Boers and Bernstein last night on The Score and he referred to our list of candidates for the GM opening as being "laughable" and pointed to the fact that only one of the outside candidates (Raye) has even been a team's Director of Pro Personnel, and that none of the other candidates had ever overseen an entire personnel department before, and noted specifically that Licht had never even been in the draft room with NE.
Arkush is an IDIOT
Michael C. Wright @mikecwright
@philbeart I think Emery or Ross. But there's still chance for wildcard candidate IMO.
Yes he is and he's very anti-Bears even though he's Chicago guy. He's far more critical than Rosenbloom and unlike Rosenbloom he's seldom on target with his critiques. Either late last week or earlier this week he claimed Ruskell was the front runner and Ruskell was the GM in Seattle. Jimmy Raye is "the" head Personnel Director for San Diego as is Ross in NY. Arkush doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about. He loves to talk just to hear the sound of his own voice but has little to say.
I dont like hearing Emery is a leading candidate. Im full on board the Ross and Raye bandwagon. Why would Ruskell need to be interviewed anyways? His reputation speaks for itself......you know how in one season removed from gm Seahawks have dumped all his draft picks.........his stellar moves like Signing burleson to a ridiculous contract after losing hutchinson and over paying Alexander, oh lets not forget trading a first rounder for Branch and giving him a whopper contract............oh wait how about Housh got a 50 mil deal at 32 lmfao. I can go on and on but forget about it
scary part is sounds allot like JA lol
Wright didn't say Emery was their top choice he just said it looks like him or Ross. They haven't even interviewed Emery yet so saying thagt sounds premature and I don't know who or what he's talking about a wildcard candidate but I doubt that means Ruskell.
The reason he's in the mix is probably nothing more than a courtesy. Whenever a team fires it's coach during the season and name an interim coach that guy usually gets the courtesy of an interview for the HC position but seldom gets it unless he was being groomed for it all along.
When the Broncos fired McDumb they made their RB coach the interim guy. Last winter when they interviewed guys of course they hired John Fox but Studeville got an interview and was retained by Fox. So who knows what's in store for Ruskell but I'd be willing to bet it's not the GM chair.
"Here we do everything together," Reese said. "Wherever Marc goes, he knows everybody's voice is important. I think he'll take that with him. We come to a consensus on guys. We don't necessarily have one guy say this is our guy. If we can't come to a consensus, we'll pick somebody else."
"Reese has him run the draft, very similar to what Ernie Accorsi did with Reese," said Wooten, who endorsed Ross in a phone conversation with Bears coach Lovie Smith. "He's ready. He's ready to run a team."
"On draft day he does a tremendous job," Reese said. "He has veteran scouts around him and young scouts around him and he manages those guys really well. He stays out all year long looking for players just like our scouts. He's definitely qualified. Obviously I'm biased, but there's no reason for him not to succeed. He'll do a tremendous job wherever he goes."
