Bob Bostad named Bears OL Coach

Bob Bostad To Be Named Bears Offensive Line Coach « CBS Chicago

That said, Bostad has a connection to Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice. Tice’s son, Nate, was a walk-on quarterback on the Badgers the last few years. Bostad also coached Bears offensive tackle Gabe Carimi at Wisconsin.

You know, this is just shooting darts at a peg board right here what I'm about to say, but I wouldn't mind taking Konz in the first round. He's Wisconsin's C from the past few years, and he's projected to go late first round. If all else fails and we can't get a LT, DE, or a CB with the 19th overall pick, I would be more than happy to take Konz and have him take over at C and move Garza back to RG.

Pitt offensive coordinator Bob Bostad will remain in his current position at the university.

A CBS radio affiliate in Chicago reported this morning that Bostad was going to become the offensive line coach for the Chicago Bears. That story is false, according to a source at Pitt.

Bostad, who came to Pitt earlier this month from Wisconsin with new head coach Paul Chryst, is on the road recruiting.

That would make me happy. Actually I think Wisconsin and Iowa turn out some of the best lineman in the country on both sides of the ball. J J Watt is turning into another Jared Allen down in Houston.

Well the news turns out to be premature so I wonder what was up with that to begin with. Is the reason he's not joining the Bears because Tice may be leaving? I can live with missing out on the former Badger Oline coach but I really don't want to lose Tice.

I agree with something you said in another thread. Tice's job is about as secure in Oakland as it would be in Chicago. Right now, the Raiders aren't guaranteed to be winners, while I think the Bears will be very good next year if our new GM (hopefully not Phil Emery since he probably won't overhaul the front office like I'd want him to) gets some more more solid draft picks and picks up some key free agents. Tice is the only reason that our offensive line ever enjoyed any success in the past two seasons; he got them to where they were run blocking really well, especially last season, when the Bears finished eighth in the league in that area. I like Tice's offensive philosophy, as it fits with our personnel very well. I hope that wasn't the reason that Bostad didn't accept the Bears' OL job.
