But Emery's draft picks are still not as good as Licht's.

Neither of them have any draft picks.

Emery to Angelo Connection
Emery was hired by the Hatley regime and was an area scout for the Bears the 2 years with Jerry Angelo. Area Scouts will spend maybe a month combined time at Halas Hall so the Emery to Angelo connection is weak and suspect at best.
Emery to Ruskell Connection
This is a far more substantial connection because Ruskell hired Emery and promoted him. They worked together in Atlanta and I think there is a chance that Ruskell stays under Emery. But the Bears draft this year, that had Ruskell heavily involved, appears to be one of the best recently and I can 3 starters coming from the draft.
Emery to the Scouts
I actually believe that the Bears scouts are not that bad and that they are well respected in the league. Everyone said that Angelo was so good in the mid rounds, but if you are good in the mid rounds that is area scouts doing the heavy lifting. I think the real draft problems have been with Angelo and his ancient ideas about player evaluation. I am okay if he wants to keep the scouts around for awhile so we can see what they turn up with better guidance and leadership.
LOL, thank you.........I think?????

That's way too over simplified. Way too many factors involved to base a decision on that alone. Was there any point in time at he beginning of the 2010 NFL season when you'd have been willing to say that Kyle Orton was a better QB than Jay Cutler just because up to that point he had better stats?
Neither of these guys made those picks. The merely gave reports and their opinions on players the coaches and GM's of their teams drafted. Most of the league thinks Emery is a better and more prepared candidate for GM right now. Either way it breaks were better off than before.

Michael C. Wright @mikecwright
- Not really. As I've said, Jerry often didn't listen to scouts. Often told them, "I've been doing this a lot longer than you". @JDM450

- @furso27 Don't be so quick to put the failures on the scouts. Jerry A didn't always listen to their recommendations. IJS.

They had influence on draft picks. You said so, so it must be true.

I'll repeat for you like I repeated for Windy...they had input by the research they did. Whether or not the GM chooses to listen is another thing altogether. But I was NOT impressed with who Kansas City drafted over the past few years.
