Yes, eventually players have to retire. So you would rather see him put his body, his mind at risk rather then retiring before that point? For what? Whats more important? Winning a football game, or a person's health? Would we even be having this argument if it were something like a torn ligament? Would you want to see a player with an ACL tear to play anyway? No? then why not apply that same way of thinking to something even more important.....such as your brain?

Think of Dave Duerson and what happened to him. A few blows to the head ultimately caused him such distress in his life that he committed suicide.

Point is they are FOOTBALL player and thats what they get payed to do. RISK is there, thats why they get payed what they do. Career is short too. Most really dont do anything but live off what they got payed playing. Would i trade 10 really hard year of what I do and give up some EXTENDED TIME at the end of my bring ,for the 45years I'm putting in in my life time, YES. I am an Ironworker and the years do put a toll on me. I'm half way there, and feel it. Living is doing things, not just waking up, and making it thru the day. I got to work about 12 years to make a million dollars. I'd gladly give up time to have the money now and NOT WORK and enjoy life while I'm young enough to enjoy it. Thats my take, you may see it differently.

There are dozens of Dave Duerson's out there. Guy who've been concussed far more than once. When Merrill Hoge retired from the Bears I think it was something like his 7 th concussion. Fortunately so far it hasn't seemed to affect his mental faculties (except when he puts down the Bears) but that still doesn't mean at some point in time it may. The head injury issues have been there since the first snap in the first game but it's only recently the NFL has chosen to address them.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Soul, Merrill Hoge lost his ability to read as a result of his concussions. It's pretty well documented. He had to go back and relearn how to read.
