To many Chiefs and not enough Indians, reminds me of Abbott and Costello:

The GM is a direct report to president Ted Phillips, who personally spearheaded the search for a second general manager during his tenure. The screening process involved coach Lovie Smith, who will remain in place for 2012; Scott Hagel, senior director of corporate communications; and Cliff Stein, the Bears’ de facto chief financial officer.

The decision now will run through chairman George McCaskey as well, based on his description of the Halas hierarchy.

Mullin: GM coming to Halas Hall

“Ownership is involved in three key hires: president, general manager, head coach, at different levels,” McCaskey said.

Bears conclude GM interviews; decision likely next week

By Dan Pompei Tribune reporter 9:30 p.m. CST, January 27, 2012

The Bears concluded their general manager interviews Friday and a new GM is expected to be in place in a matter of days. Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery visited Halas Hall for his second go-round with upper management and then was scheduled to leave town.

Emery and Patriots director of pro personnel Jason Licht are the two finalists for the job. Licht had a second interview Thursday. Outsiders have portrayed Emery as the favorite. It may or may not be significant that he was the final candidate to visit this week, and the final candidate to visit last week in the first wave of interviews. (Based on my experience on both sides of the interview desk it is significant)

The next step for the Bears is for President Ted Phillips and Chairman George McCaskey to make a choice. Then they need to get ownership to rubber stamp the selection. (George says, "Mom, will ya' just sign the agreement then you can go back to watching Wheel of Fortune".)

After that, they will offer the job to the man they chose and commence contract negotiations. (That should be easy. How long does it take to say, "take it or leave it"?)

Oh my God, thank you. I love that "Who's on First" routine. Haven't seen it in years.

Our curiosity has now been sated but I'm archiving this thread to save the Abbott and Costello routine GSH posted. That's is an all time classic. I've watched it a dozen times since he posted it, LOL.
