Will there be a Jay Cutler-Brandon Marshall reunion in Chicago? As the Miami Dolphins receiver said, "you can never say never in this business."

Jamie Squire/Getty ImagesBrandon Marshall said his on-field chemistry with Jay Cutler was "something special."
Marshall, who had his two best seasons with Cutler in Denver, joined "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000 and was asked if his recent Twitter exchange with his former quarterback could lead to a reunion in Chicago with the Bears.
"Right now I've got a Dolphins jersey on and am pretty much locked up," Marshall said Wednesday. "But this is a crazy business and you never know what can happen. I've seen guys come in and talk about how they just bought a house and look forward to putting their kids in a school around the corner and the next day they're traded somewhere so you can never say never in this business."
During the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints wildcard playoff game on Jan. 7, Cutler and Marshall joked on Twitter about playing together again. When a Cutler follower tweeted that it was time for a Cutler-Marshall reunion in Chicago, Cutler tweeted "Let's do it."
Drafted by the Broncos in 2006, the duo developed immediate chemistry in their second NFL seasons -- Cutler's first full year as a starter -- in 2007. Marshall caught 102 passes for 1,325 yards and seven touchdowns that season and followed it up with 104 catches for 1,265 yards and six touchdowns in 2008.
Cutler was traded to the Bears after that season when new coach Josh McDaniels took over. Marshall followed Cutler out the door a year later, traded to the Dolphins, who gave him a four-year, $47.5 million contract extension.
Marshall said it's "painful" thinking about what might have been if he and Cutler had stayed together.
"I'm sitting next to [Cincinnati Bengals quarterback] Andy Dalton yesterday [at a Pro Bowl practice] and I was telling him, him and A.J. [Green] remind me of the young B-Marsh and Cutler," Marshall said. "It's hard to find that and sometimes it's once in a lifetime, not finding athletes like us but .... when you take two guys and put them on the field together and they have that chemistry, that's what's almost impossible to find. I can't explain it. That's why I said it's almost painful to think about.
"We'll line up there and we'll get a coverage and he will just look at me and I'll know exactly where he wants to adjust my route. You don't find that. It got to a point where coaches, they didn't know what we were doing so we'll install a whole play and they'll give us a play on the front side and put me on the back side and they'll tell us just do what you all do and just make it work. We had a lot of freedom in our offense, and we made it work and chemistry was great. It was something special."
Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall joined "Waddle & Silvy" to discuss playing with Jay Cutler and the potential for a reunion with his former QB in Chicago.

What I highlighted is the main reason I don't see Marshall wearing a Bears jersey any time in the near future. Anyone see us giving up a high draft choice or two for him and picking up what left on that contract because I sure don't.

2nd & 3rd this year, I'd do it.
we get our #1 WR who our franchise QB knows and likes.
I don't really see many WRs in Free agency that I would say are #1 WRs. And hoping that the guy I want comes to us will cost a lot of $$. Manningham is a #2 guy but with his recent TD Catch and maybe more in 1 1/2 week he won't come cheap.
Wayne and Garcon? not #1 guys
VJax? there is a reason why the chargers don't even try to trade him and don't want him anymore
Colston? We don't need a guy with his injury history. A team with good WR depth that can live without him will love to sign him or a team like us overpays. Great
Bowe, Wallace & Johnson? franchised
With Marshall, you know what you get and what he will get $. Sure, Picks like that are good and not easy to give up, but it's a #1 WR and without a GM in place yet, the chances that these picks would be wasted are good.
And the GM could still trade Biggs if he cries out loud again and whines. A Team may give us a mid 2nd or late 2nd. Replace him with a FA for 1 year and draft a LB in Round 4

Why on earth would the Bears trade a couple of picks for Marshall when they can grab an even better and cheaper receiver via Free Agency? Marshall is a good receiver but has also some character issues. Troublemakers can kill your team, we've already seen that with T.O. and Co.. Guys like Bowe and VJackson would be a better option imo.

who - available - is better than Marshall?
VJax isn't and won't come cheap in Free agency
Bowe will get franchised or will sign a new longterm deal
Cutty and Marshall are friends and like each other, this would sure hurt team chemistry

I like the idea, but we have to keep in mind that it was just a twitter discussion that was picked up by a fan. Really nothing here. That said, it's my understanding that BM has addressed and received help for his "issues", so he would be worth the gamble to me. There are some very nice WR's in this draft, but lets face it, anyone we pick up in FA will be ready to go right away, while we will have to wait awhile for the rook.
I personnally don't think I would give more than our two 3rd's for him, and that likely would not be enough, but if that would do it, I'd deal them in a split second.
I have also had the thought about the whole Briggs issue and his trade value. It's an interesting conundrum, and I do expect Briggs to start voicing his displeasure again after the new GM has had a short chance to warm up his new office. Should be fun to watch.

two 3rd's is too much for that jag. VJax in a heartbeat over Marshall. Wait and see what happens w/FA before even specualating on that kind of crap trade.
I'd take a rookie in the first two rounds over Marshall. Dude is a douchebag extrodonaire.

Guys, here's the main reason you don't want to trade for Marshall. In addition to giving up two high draft picks these are the amounts of his salary the Bears would have to pick up. We'd be paying him $9 mil and change for the next 3 years. So based on Marshall's rep, and not just his productivity, does anyone think we should take that kind of a gamble on this loose cannon? He's a big ticket item with more than his fair share of issues.

Marshall isnt available either. Might as well say "Who - available - is better than Wes Welker?"
Yes, Cutler and Marshall would LOVE to play with each other. However...the decision isnt up to them, its up to the management of their respective teams. And Dolphins have no interest in shopping him, and Bears are not (and can not)going to temper with a player under contract.
