Welcome to DaBears bf247. Where in Western Nebraska are you located? Some of us over here in Colorado are just down the road from you. You'll find that it's normally pretty peaceful around here but you'll also find that we're not without strong opinion too. The unwritten rule governing us opinionated SOB's is don't just say you like or dislike, explain why. That way we can debate the opinion and not the person.

Opinions are never wrong which is why they aren't called facts but that never seems to stop us from trying to change one anothers often enough, LOL. Sometimes we argue and fight but we always fight fair. It seldom gets personal with members flaming one another. It's against the rules and not a great way to operate anyway. Those who ignore that get a warning or two in their mailbox and after that the "ban hammer" will fall. That type never last long around here and trolls last even less time. Our staff does a very, very fine job of moderating.

The main thing is that we're all pretty much friends united by our love of the Bears and Bears football. If we were ever to have a members convention even those of us most opposed to anothers typical viewpoints would be buying one another beers an arguing it out in person, LOL. Most of the time that's what our disputes are like anyway. Just like sitting at the bar with your buddies when one says something you think is ridiculous and you tell then their full of shit. That's the way I see it anyway.

We do have an un-moderated forum known as The Bar Scene, or TBS for short where anything goes. If you want to call someone a stupid motherfvcker or insult their momma that's where you do it. That keeps the streets clean around here. So welcome, enjoy and if you have any questions about the rules or how the site operates just ask. We may be opinionated but we don't mind taking time out to be helpful.

Just for the record, those of us that have come over from the other board understand that none of us agree all the time. I think I can speak for the few of us that have seceded from the other board; any one of us can go toe to toe in a pissing match and any one of us can get caught up in the emotion of a good debate. I'm no choir boy and we're not perfect, and we do not expect the Senior participants on THIS board to be either. Hell, we migrants don't always agree with each other. We know what were getting into, but we also know what we're getting out of. So I guess the bottom line is, everyone needs a fresh start from time to time, and after the last several months over there, the time was ripe for a few of us. From what I've seen, this board talks a lot about the Beloved, shares good breadth of opinion and knowledge, is generally friendly and respectful, with some reasonable banter and jabs here and there.

Everyone shares goofy opinions from time to time, but I have yet to see someone get called out for it more than once and have every subsequent post ridiculed and mocked as ignorant and stupid regardless of the content just because of who the poster is.

I have yet to see someone called out and the comment made "I wish I was your Dad so I didn't have to listen to your stupid shit anymore" when the attacker knew that the posters Father had recently passed away.

I have yet to see anyone accused of racism because they happen to dislike the direction Lovie Smith has taken us and then be belittled for alternative coaches when one of the alternatives is also black. To suggest such a thing is in the context that it was, was beyond rational.

I've long ago grown beyond that kind of High School idiocy, and I suspect the the other guys that left have as well.

OK, so much for my soapbox railing against my former home. I'm glad to be here and among a less angry crowd for a change. Like I said earlier, you guys are a breath of fresh air for me, and I look forward to an occasional sparing match if we don't agree 100%. However, I will guarantee you that I will do so in a respectful manner.
