And even more Southsiders!!!! We moved from Oak Lawn right before I started HS. It's always fun to visit and see how things have changed and what hasn't. The tore down Cook School where I went to grammar school but our old church, the Congregational with the tall steeple on 51st is still there. Coral theatre is no more but good old Green Oaks Shopping Center survives along with the White Castle @ 95th and Cicero. Took my daughters there once while we were visiting, a pilgrimage to WC so to speak, and what I got from them was Dad, you gotta be kidding, yuch. I guess if you didn't grow up with honest of God sliders you just can't appreciate them, LOL.

My buddies younger brother played at Richards right before DWade got there. If you look at the record books there he is actually higher on the all-time scoring list there than Wade is!! And now he works construction......
My dad worked at the Coral Theater when he was a kid.

Last summer all the kids that played at Oak Lawn little League played on a Travel Team in the summer and they were awesome. They were all friends and wanted to do it once before they all went to different summer teams this year. They played in 8 tourneys and won 4 came in second on 2 and bombed 2.It was coached by the Varsity baseball coach of Richards and the Pres.of Oak Lawn LL who is also going to coach your Nephew as a freshman at Richards.Yours truly helped out as a Coach and Official Batting Practice Pitcher. There are alot of good Baseball Players playing there.Between Reavis,Richards and Oak Lawn HS
BTW This site is like our old one USED to be.Friendly and intelligent. This is a great year to be here as I believe our Beloved are going to make some good moves and find themselves back in the upper tier of the NFL.We should have alot of fun here. Thanks for making us Rookies here feel at home.

Mom used to take us to Jerry Lewis movies at the Coral. Couldn't believe it when I saw it was gone. First the Coral then Cook School my grade school alma mater.

No sweat we love new blood around here. We can get tired of debating one another (like Ric and I) after a while without a change in the tide. I haven't see this many new members posting all at once in a very long time. It's nice to have you all. I'm not surprised there are some good ball players around the area. Oak Lawn has always had a tremendous youth baseball program. We grew up doing nothing but playing baseball all summer long. Nice to know that soccer hasn't polluted baseball to badly around there.

OK, I thought I was surrounded by a bunch of inbreds down here in rural BF, Illinois, but are you guys sure none of you are related? Some of you may have had relations with a few sisters on this board.

Welcome everyone...
I actually read the whole damn thread! lol
One thing is funny, and Soulman touched on it, this site was started back in 2004 because the Bears site didn't have ANY moderation. They pretty much sucked. It's awesome how a lot of the members here have history, and man, lemme tell you the wars this site has fought!
I'm talking rival Bears fan sites, to fighting the NFL, to Bear Goggles registering as a squirrel rapist! It's all good stuff. I will say, the scariest part is when the NFL wanted this site! lol I still remember being on the phone when their big shot NYC lawyer told me I needed to transfer over dabears.com to them... haha my response "I'd be more than willing to talk about the NFL compensating me for it."
In time, we've evolved, and we continue to keep the members in mind. Even when I nuked the site! (don't remind me)
Welcome again, and while this site is different from the mainboard, you'll figure it out in time. Trust me, it's worth the learning curve!
