Which trade would you rather do?
There's a gun to your head and you need to chose between Israel Idonije and Lance Briggs.
Who would you trade and why?
I'd try to keep Briggs and trade Izzy. I know he's been very productive the last couple of years but he's more replaceable than Briggs. The Bears could trade him for a 3rd round pick and draft a defensive end in the first or second round. What do you think?
p.s.: Sorry for not creating a poll.

I am in agreement. Doesn't mean I don't like Izzy, or his attitude way better than Briggs, but as far as talent you are comparing a 7? time pro bowler with a serviceable defensive end.

If?????? Of course you'd trade Izzy but I don't see any way you'd get a 3rd round pick for him. Although he's a pretty fair all around LDE he's over 30 years of age and he's not a great pass rusher. Teams can draft guys as good in the 3rd round so I can't see them trading for him. He has an advantage over a rookie as far as his experience is concerned but a rookie wll be 8-9 years younger and at the starting point in his career whereas Izzy is finishing his.
If some team was willing to trade a top 20 first round pick for Briggs I'd snap it up and use the pick to draft his replacement but I don't see anyone giving that much up for Briggs either. His age and the fact that he's not a sackmeister work against that. On top of that he's a better player in the Bears defense than he would likely be elsewhere. He's the Bears version of Derrick Brooks.
All things considered Briggs and Izzy are two important and stable guys in the Bears defense and most likely worth far more to us than we could expect to get for either of them in trade. Given that I'd probably have to take one for the team and the bullet in the head. I'd keep both of them.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap. Honey Badger Don't Care. Honey Badger Don't Give a Shit.
depends on the return and Izzy is a free agent
We could possibly stock draft picks in the first three rounds with the trade of Briggs, but probably not in the first. Briggs would probably work us out a deal to get a second or two, or a second and maybe a third. I don't know, though; it will be interesting to see what Emery will do when the inevitable "I want a raise" bitch fest out of Briggs commences.
If i was the GM this isn't complicated. You tell Phillips to figure out if a moderate raise is doable - present Briggs with the figures and tell him to take it or leave it.

What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?
Personally, I think Briggs is on the decline now as we speak. Yeah, he got elected to the Pro Bowl again this year for the seventh time, but he really didn't have all that good of a season. He's gotten to where he can't defend against TE's worth a shit, and early this last season, I saw a lot of missed tackles. It seems to me that he's not all that and a bag of peanuts anymore. I think the Bears should use the first opportunity they can get to jettison him and his salary and stockpile some draft picks.
