True but they know the risks do they not?
Let's see, driving at 100+ miles an hour? Yeah that's safe. Besides did not not chose to NOT wear the new helmets or headgear NASCAR had? Not that it would have helped... But come on. Driving at 100+ miles an hour in a tight track and you are not prepared to die? Please.
So the hide it to continue to play, but complain cause they are falling apart because injuries are not taken care of better? Sounds like they are just as much to blame for their shattered bodies as the NFL if not more.
Yes, they signed up for getting their bodies broken. It is their fault for hiding the injuries to continue to play. If they didn't, what did they think they were signing up for? A tickle fight?

You miss the whole point of these articles Benji. The first one is just about Hilly's struggle to get what the CBA says he's due and the NFL seems like it's trying to block him from getting. He's not bitching about getting concussed.
In the second one he's telling it like it is and why players like Urlacher come out in the press saying he wouldn't even tell the trainers if he had a concussion. Hilly is saying that you risk your career if you start missing games because of it. Apparently the duplicity of the NFL is lost on you. On one hand they're trying to legislate it out of existence with some dubious rule changes while at the same time penalizing players so badly for having concussions that it's become a "don't ask, don't tell kind of problem at that level.
Read both articles again.....completely. I don't think you got it.

Yeah, that first article describes a ridiculous circumstance, that if his injury was more physical (read: easier to prove), he wouldve gotten what was entitled to him: 50% of his base salary. But, since its "only" a concussion, and they really cant PROVE that it was an injury that ended his career, the Bears are basically telling him to get bent, even though it was their own expert who told him not to play football again.
Sad situation really. I hope Hillenmeyer gets the restitution he seeks, even if that means going to court.

I still thinks it's as much or more the NFL in control of it and not so much the Bears. The McCaskey's aren't that cold and hard hearted that they'd battle a vet who gave his all and spent his entire career with the Bears and give the guy the finger over $900k.
I still think this has to do with the bigger issues of those other lawsuits. The Bears own neurologist told him he shouldn't play. If you claim a disability and your insurance company sends you to their docs for an evaluation they can't really quarrel with it if the doc says, "yeah the guy is disabled".

Yeah, its sad that the Bears are going to stiff him for what basically amounts to chump change for them.
And yes Benji, pro football players know that they are putting their bodies on the line, everytime they suit up. But why do they do it? Because of that paycheck...that contract that pays them exorbitant amounts of money. risk vs reward. Well...Hunter risked more then most, had his career cut short. And his reward? Basically what amounts to a breach of contract and a "too bad so sad" attitude by the Bears.

The Bears are violating the rules . Period.
On the other hand, players in all sports engage in chicanery of their own. I've heard tales of guys going and having surgery done on injuries they haven't notified the team about.
There's BS on both sides of the fence.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?
