So, he has presence, has a way of keeping information to himself while using lots of words to tell you, can hear questions from across the room, wants to win, was a conditioning coach and has someone else in mind for Haskells position.
Seriously, everything I read about the guy makes me think he may be a better choice than who I wanted (Ross). I don't care how he speaks (that's what TIVO is for), as long as he wins.
I believe that's true on both counts. He comes across as confident, not cocky, and he wasn't just making shit up. Some of his answers were lengthy but it's not as if he avoided answering. He gave answer relative to what he could at the time. It's the guys first day on the job and it seems like some folks want to know what his Super Bowl speech will include.
Here's an interesting fact. I posted the link to a poll on who thought this was a good hire and who didn't. The results so far had 49% in favor and 51% not in favor. Those who watched the broadcast could see the comments viewers were making as he spoke. The breakdown in those comments was roughly the same as the results of the poll. About half were positive and complimentary while the other half were negative and tended to criticize at every turn.
My guess is that the demographic around here isn't all that much different but at least most of those who would have made a different choice like you "houston" are willing to take a wait and see attitude and give the guy chance and even admit, as I had said in another post, that maybe we've been misjudging the guy a little.
I don't see any signs of a guy who's an indecisive management toady at all. If he was willing to let Ruskell go day one despite his prior relationship with the guy and the need to have someone in charge of pro personnel he's not gonna have any problem cutting ties with Lovie if the performance isn't there. He may end up doing it with regrets but he sure as hell will do it if that's what it takes. I'm confident of that.

Season is not over yet, we still have a slight chance.

I swear i must have listened to a different press conference. this guy seemed to be another Jerry Angelo. sounded like he wasn't interested in being the leader of this team or at least made it sound like he was the GM it sounded more like he was part of a "team" that will do the role of the GM, danced around questions and then flat out double talked on some answers.

Talk about being hyper-critical! What did you naysayers expect the guy to do in his first presser on his first day? Tell the world exactly who he is going to re-sign/not re-sign and who he wants to pursue in the offseason?? Pull a pro-bowl DE, WR, and LT out of his ass and say "here you go!" ???
He did the usual thank-you's and the usual vague non-specific teamwork platitudes in a self-assured professional manner...exactly as he should have. I don't care a rat's ass if his ears are big or if he didn't pound the podium with his fists for excitement. If he can properly evaluate and acquire good football talent for us consistently, that is all that matters. Can we give the guy at least a chance to get to work a little before chicken littles everywhere start screaming the sky is falling?
Want Angelo back instead?
