The only way I trade any of my picks in the first three rounds is if I can throw in Lance Briggs with the player(s) in question. That being said, I would not draft Michael Floyd. The guy seems like a real punk ass to me, and we don't need that in the Bears' locker room. I would wait and get a free agent WR, one of the big four receivers that are on the market (Colston, Bowe, Jackson, even Johnson). This draft should be used to build depth and bring us key players at positions of need. While we need a big-bodied WR in the worst way possible, I would be opposed to drafting on in the first round unless by some miracle Justin Blackmon came available.

No way on Floyd. Blackmon for Briggs, and our second 3rd rounder hell yes. We need the picks. Besides why reach on a wr anyway if you have Drake coaching him down? If Rwill is dumped it would open up some opportunities for a rook wr but I don't see that happening.

I don't really see it and his refusal to play in the Senior Bowl didn't score any points with me either. To me that throws up all kinds of red flags about his not wanting to be measured against his peers. If he believed that his appearance could only hurt him, not help him, he's not a guy I want on the Bears. That tells me he may be a borderline pick and he's playing it safe so he doesn't hurt his potential draft position.
From what I understand, he didn't want to play in the Senior Bowl because he has had a tweaked hamstring. He didn't want to injury it so that he couldn't perform at the combine.

I'm surprised a lot of people here aren't liking Floyd. I guess I'm just biased being a big ND Fan and I've been watching him at ND Stadium for so many Saturdays. He is that big target jump ball guy. He has made so many big plays throughout his career at ND. Fade route in the endzone; he is usually money. He knows how to use size well and box out and has great hands. He also isn't afraid to make catches in the middle of the field. On top of that he is a great blocker.

Now he does not have blazing speed, so it will be interesting to see what he runs at the combine. Also, the DUI's, hopefully he learned from that. I'm not too familiar with Jeffery so I can't really compare the two.

Do I think he is worth the trade up? I'm not sure. But do I think he could be that #1 receiver jump ball guy? Yes.

I don't have issues w/Floyd, per se, but you rarely find mid to late 1st round WR's making huge contributions day one. That said for the Bears, even as a rookie, he would probably run better routes, and be a better target then all but Bennett...sad huh. There is no one, I would give up our first 4 picks for(reasonably speaking). We have too many holes to fill and a lot of early picks to hopefully fill them, w/younger starting quality talent. IMO the Bears should take whoever is going to have the best chance to start day 1 and help the team, and don't trade up to get someone if it means getting rid of that 2nd or 2 3rds.

If Floyd is the bpa then grab him, I just don't see that as happening. There is also a lot of hope/assumptions, that we will grab a big FA WR and that will mean not using the 19th pick on a WR.

Hurt hammy or not, it looks bad to miss out on that college game b/c it looks like you don't think you can compete.

To me Floyd is your classic "boom or bust" type where there is no in between. The tweaked hammy is nothing more than an excuse. I think Floyd will have the same problems that a similar size receiver, Dwight Jones, did in Senior Bowl practice. He couldn't get separation and despite his size he couldn't get off press coverage.

I see Floyd much the same way. We'll see what his numbers are from the Combine but he does lack speed and if he doesn't accelerate quickly and isn't sharp getting into his breaks he won't get separation in the NFL. Without separation you're covered and you don't get the ball. I don't want to spend a first round pick on a guy whose only real talent is jump balls.

Then of course there are the character concerns. The three DUI's that got him suspended from the team. He may have put that to rest now because it would surely have an effect on where he'll be picked but if he has a drinking problem and he hasn't done anything about it but sweep it under the rug it'll return again once he's in the pros. I see a lot of David Terrell in Michael Floyd. JMO.

Yeah I think that's a valid point. Hopefully, we grab a big name(s) in free agency because we just need a playmaker at WR.

Yeah, should be interesting to see how he runs in the combine. Some good points you brought up about separation. I'm just too much of a ND homer and want to see him go to my NFL team. haha.

Coming from Chicago I've always been a big ND fan too and I watch a lot of their games but I didn't see them at all this year. Like I said in another post, if Emery thinks this guy is someone he wants I'll abide by that decision. He's a better judge of talent then I am but I sure wouldn't burn draft choices to move up for him. He may even go after we pick. Not playing in the Senior Bowl has cost him in the rankingx.
