I would like him as well but I'm betting the Lions will like him even more. They won't be happy about giving us a shot at him so I think they either sign him or franchise him.

Yeah and I think that's where we made a big mistake. Trying to hold up against the run made him all that much less effective as a pass rusher. That was Lovie's idea to get him on the field for more snaps when actually playing him behind Alex would have been a lot smarter.

I think of it this way: Mark Anderson must not have been conditioned right by the strength and conditioning coaches to withstand the rigors of a full sixteen game season while holding down the job of starting RDE. The S&C coaches should have worked with him to build endurance and more strength in order to be able to stay in for the majority of most games.

What do you all think? Do you all think that could be possible? I remember that with the Yankees in 2008, so many players got hurt because the S&C coaches just did not do the job it took to keep their muscles limber. While that has nothing to do with the Mark Anderson situation, I think it suffice to say that if he had been trained in much the same way as if he were going to run a marathon, he might have done better.

IDK Izzy seemed to gain and lose 20lbs as needed switching from ST to DT to full time D.

Oh, what I meant was that he would keep his body weight, but that he would be better conditioned through a more rigorous exercise and weight training regimen to be able to handle the pressures of playing full time RDE.

The Lions are in cap hell right now, soul. There's a good chance that they will have to let Avril go.

Don't hold your breath, or your piss either. That's even more dangerous. Your bladder can rupture. They'll dump dead weight before they let him walk especially with us sniffing around.

PS: Mark Anderson was listed at 255 lb but I'll bet he had trouble keeping it on and as the season wore on he was playing much lighter. He's really more suited to rush from a two point stance than to play with his hand on the ground. More rushbacker than DE. The guy can't play the run or cover very well but he sure can get at the QB. He proved that here.

History indicates he will do nothing next season. I would like to see him sustain this run for a few years to even begin questioning fit or coaching. If he falls off next year well he shows flashes.

So you're saying that he was more like Lawrence Taylor in his pass rushing skills and his size? (I know you didn't say Lawrence Taylor, but he's the first name that I threw out.)

Just like the BEARS tried to get Hester on the field more, cause he did good here and there.
