How about drafting Brandon Washington (OT/OG) in the Second Round?
According to WalterFootball.com, the Bears may pick Brandon Washington (OT/OG) out of The University of Miami at Coral Gables, FL. He would be an interesting pick to give Webb a bit of competition in Training Camp, but he can also be plugged in at G in case Chris Williams goes down with an injury again. The site suggested that he would be a good substitute also for Chris Spencer, who they claimed to have struggled. (We all know that was a load of horseshit because Chris Spencer was one of our most consistent linemen.)
What do you all think? I'm particularly interested in hearing sox's opinion, to read if he has seen anything about his game that would prove beneficial to the Bears.

If he truly has potential at OT then maybe he'd be worth a look, but it seems like we already have several serviceable guards. We really need an OT. I really want someone who would likely beat out Webb for LT instead of just push him.

I don't know just how much of a project this Washington kid would be, but I have to believe that he has greater upside than Webb simply because he will have been drafted in the first round. If the Bears draft a WR in the first round instead of a LT or a DE, I can see possibly the potential to draft this guy due to his versatility.
Some pundits will say that because he will not be a first round pick, he will never amount to anything more than an OG or a RT. I don't know how accurate that is because most of my sports expertise involves my knowledge of baseball, but when I look at J'Marcus Webb and he's the starting LT and is struggling to block RDE's without the assistance of a TE to chip block and then see this Washington kid and the fact that he's projected to go in the second round, what's the risk there? I know that the likely hood of this happening is virtually nil, but they could always finally move Carimi over to LT and allow Washington to play RT, thus relegating the ineffective and inconsistent Webb to the role of swing man. I don't think it hurts to look at things like that.
What are your thoughts?

I just want them to get SOMEBODY we ( and especially Cutler ) don't have to worry about every friggin game. The Bears can't fiddle-frack around with the position that's most important in protecting the blindside of the most talented QB we've have had in decades.
What good ..... is ANY DE, WR, CB, LB, or TE gonna do us if Cutler gets injured ? NONE of those positions is gonna mean diddly-squat winning us games , if our QB is sitting . So yea use another 1st rounder on the LT position ( or spend a little more in FA to fix this constant headache ). Bears are never gonna be a serious contender for the SB if this doesn't happen.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

Draft the Outland trophy winner (Carimi) and he isn't LT material but a 7th rounder graded as the worst LT in pro ball is. Then Tice wants to keep him there, said "he grades out well" and will give him help chipping and less 7 step drops. How about do that for Carimi at LT and see what happens instead of being so stubborn w/this experiment.

Excellent , pointed post that summs up the insanity perfectly.

Hard to figure why Tice keeps insisting Webb is his guy. If they want to stick with him as a LT then at least get someone in to compete with him, preferably a vet who does play LT. I'd bet $1000 Bears Bucks Tice won't move Carimi.

And what of the new offensive line coach as well. He comes in and what's the first thing you'd think he'd try to address but can't? Doesn't give him much traction with the other players trying to improve them if he can't address the elephant in the room.

I would not be surprised if the Bears spent their 1st round pick on a player like David DeCastro and Peter Konz. I think they will represent the best player available and the a guaranteed long term starter for the Bears.

No doubt, but Tice will still be making the decisions on that as the OC. I think you can count on that which may be why we're having trouble filling those two offensive coaching spots. If Tice is gonna call all the plays plus continue to direct the line what are the Oline and QB coaches there for?
Apparently Tice sees something in Webb that we don't. Maybe he sees a guy like Tarik Glenn who was a Colt. He was Manning's blindside guy and he struggled too his first couple of years then became a very dependable LT. There's no doubt Webb has some great physical abilites but to me he seems dumb as a fence post and you can't coach smarts. In watching him far more of his mistakes are mental ones than physical ones.
If Tice is gonna stick with him he at least needs vet backup better than OMG.
